I'm having this psx console that all of a sudden won't get past the boot logo. The start-up sound though plays as normal. Not only this but also the cd-drive isn't spinning.

I tried the drive assembly on another working 9002 model, but it won't spin either.
Before this happened, vibration didn't work on any controller.

Any ideas on what caused this? Is there any way that I can fix it?
The console is modded by the way

Hanging on the boot screen normally means that the R3K can't communicate with the CD controller. Since it's been modded, my first guess would be that a wire has come off and is shorting something.

The lack of rumble is most likely caused by the fuse that supplies 8V to the controller ports being blown - this shouldn't have any effect on anything else.

I just checked the wiring. At a first glance nothing seems to have come off.
Is there any chance that any ic or fuse associated with the cd drive might have gone bad?

Chances are there is an issue with the chip. Remove it and see if it works fine. If not then we can start eyeballing things that are a PITA to replace.

I shipped a 7501 out once working great, client gets it and it doesn't work. Turns out that when I laid the shielding down to test it a wire was under it and upon putting the screws in one of the wires was shorted to ground causing nothing to work at all including the spinning of the spindle motor.

Moved it and it was fine. But looking at it you'd never realize it was an issue.

It would seem unlikely, since the core CD logic runs from 3.3V, and it's powered from the same rail that runs the GPU, so if the fuse was blown you wouldn't normally get any display.

I desoldered the modchip but it still won't get past the boot screen. The CD drive won't spin also.
I sealed the drive from another 9002 model that is functioning correctly, but it won't spin either.

Are any of the chips getting hotter than normal?

The mainboard gets kinda warm, but didn't notice any significant change in temperatures. I'll give it a try though.

Bumping this thread after some inactivity.

I read somewhere that some of the faults a psx motherboard exhibits are from blown fuses, and that one should run a multitester when inspecting one.
This document said that ps601,ps602,ps603 should read 8 volts, and ps604,ps605 3.5 volts. On this specific console 602,604 and 605 read zero volts. How am I going to replace them?I'm not good with smd soldering.

You tested this with power on right? No power would clearly be zero volts. You can use the continuity setting on the multimeter on the fuses to see if they're open mean burned out or closed which means they're good. Continuity testing is done while the system is off.

Yeap, did it the way you mention.
I was thinking to desolder those fuses from a dead 9002 model and solder them back to this one, but chances are that I'm gonna destroy this board. I don't have the equipment for such small parts.
