Please use uLaunchELF WIP7 by AKuHAK, if you have not already tried that.

Regarding USB device support, you must use a USB disk that is formatted with FAT32. Only one partition is allowed.

Personally, I wouldn't be messing around with the PSX's system files because one error there would cause you to lose the XMB.
But if you really must, I strongly recommend that you back up the files under __system.

No, I never applied any mods to my PSX's XMB.

    hey bro

I think i agree with you...

tbh the console just looks amazing, its a beautiful console... pity its very hard to hack and make use off

I do have a fully hacked ps2 which is enough but this one I will just leave it to collect dust basically...

You can easily fine them on eBay or Yahoo Japan Auction by looking PSX + DESR or just the model of the one your looking for.
Prices are like $100-$400 ($100 being just unit & maybe not fully working right or untested. $400 being like new in box & fully working.)

Why dead? I do have all DESR UPDATE discs and 5-6 Sony HDD. Is that not enough? Does update discs do have recovery function to resurrect the DESR from dead with new (unbounded) HDD or it's purpose just to update working units?
    ###
You mean to update/bound HDD correctly, the network connection and working DNAS server are needed? Even if I have these service discs?

    Anyone could help me?
I accidentally deleted the files inside the HD of my DESR 7000 and it only stays on the gray screen without loading I have it unlocked by the FMCB
Could you make a backup of yours so I can try copying the files on my hard drive?
    DESR 7000 HD backup files
    __mbr
    __net
    __system
    __sysconf
    __common
Copying them I can recover the files
If you could help me could transfer them to min?

I don't know how he erased the disk, but he could try to get copies of all files from someone else who has a DESR-7000.

Well, I do have 5000 (1.31) and 7100 (1.30) working. If it will help - great, but I'm sure the "mbr" is hidden main partition. I can't provide its content.
—How to get access to that partition to made it's backup? Or it hasn't any file and it's just "record", a string of code?
—Does anyone could say WHAT a new official Sony drive must have to be able to be bound to a unit? I do have Update discs. Cause it's so blury theme, need to know more detail to do anything.

It's not a formatted partition. The MBR boot program is in the APA header, as on PS2 disks. There are no programs to extract it, but I believe that the program is exactly the same as the one in XFLASH. Needs to be confirmed, however, as it has been many years.

I can confirm that the PSX boots to the xosdmain.elf KELF which is stored in the on-board flash (aka xFlash), and that the KELF is the same as the MBR KELF. But I dunno if the PSX can boot without that KELF in the MBR...

If you try to copy the files from another persons' DESR-7000, you have to make sure the system software version is the same as the system software that was previously installed to your PSX (because xosdmain.elf, osdmain.dat and osdmain.mod from your "broken" system STILL exist on the flash).

HDL_Dump has ability inject mbr.kelf into __mbr partition so if you have that kelf it will be injected via initialize command.
