Why do you say that it is bricked? His set is now in a rather precarious state, but I believe that it may be salvagable if the files are copied back to the HDD. It probably also depends on what he meant by he "deleted all the files" because there are no tools to re-format the dvr_hdd region.

Just putting stuff back on the drive with uLE won't work. Sounds like you screwed the partitioning marks. That is what happens if a fool go into uLE HDD menu and hit "format" on a PSX.

I have a suggestion to fix:

Take a working PSX of same series as yours. Set it's PS2 storage to 0 and let it "format" the local storage (that deletes installed stuff and TV recordings)

Boot an app that dumps raw sectors of the drive. I believe that dumping 1GB (maybe 2GB yo be on the safe side of things?) of the drive would be enough for this.
Boot an app that restores raw sectors to the drive on the PSX you're trying to save. That would put the data back.

The PSX will handle the encryption transparently if it's done this way.

Slot1 gamer has a website dedicated to this issue (his YT channel) https://www.youtube.com/user/Slot1Gamer

He couldnt fix it and he is quite nerdy

    Your PSX is buggered man...

the hard drive serial number is encoded into the rom and taking another persons firmware or taking a working hard drive will not fix it..

unless you are developer and want to invest 50 hours in fixing it there is no solution

The PSX was designed piss poor, firstly its a media center and secondly its a PS2 console

I always thought Slot1 and the LeHaM are the same person...

I'm thinking about making full IDE cable for the PSX. Will it help to hotswap the HDD's if I will connect the working one HDD of the unit as Master and the Unbound one as Slave? I'll cut the CSEL pin from the Master connector and by changing CSEL value of each drive I'll be able to swap them without any need of danger phisical reconnecting. Or IDE standart suppose that each drive is initialise on startup and work that way until powering it off?
    And:
-That the PSX Updates discs for? Are they completly useless? How can I use them except normal XMB upgraed on working unit?
-Is someone know how to correctly disassemble the upper mechanical part of a XPD-001 drive where 3 (or 4) bents are located? They pull in and push out a disc. I've cleaned my drive 2 weeks ago and use some silicon greese oon gears. it makes it better indeed, but it's still hardly accepts discs and when I want my disc back it takes 1-2 seconds for just useless noise and BAM! It shouts the disc out and damge it with a little scratch near the internal circiut.
-And yeah, how that black cotton-paper material is called? I'm talking about the black tapes that are all around the dvd-drive for dust protecting purpose.

I don't know but that may have to do with the mechanical contact switches which detect the mechanism position may be rusty internally. So it doesn't attempt to latch the disc after it's inside. The unit just "barfs" the disc back.

Due to the fact that two PSX arrived at once I refresh the topic, I received models 5100 and 7500, thanks to the 2nd I was able to significantly refine and improve the translation for x500 x700 models, since it is known that the firmware there is different from earlier models, and I previously had only 7000 models, translation for x000 x100 models also slightly improved, and continue to refine for all models, all the archives with translations are updated, I also got both PSX with non-working drives, but I found out that in 7500 my laser is responsible for reading game discs ( KHS-400C laser model is the same for all ex PSX and PS2 FAT parts, the specified lasers from PS2 and PSX are interchangeable) these discs are the most readable if viewed through UlaunchELF, since the disc definition goes right through the PS2 laser that is, KHS-400C, XMB still works on to another, any disk must first recognize the DVR laser, in the x500 x700 models it is SF-DB11 if this laser cannot determine the type of disk due to its fault, no disks will be displayed in XMB, my DVR laser was completely dead, but fortunately I had a donor on my shelf for a long time, a model 5500 with a dead card and a bunch of other I decided to take the DVR laser from there and rearrange it to my 7500, since they are the same for these models, the replacement can be said to be almost successful, now PSX sees DVD-R blank discs, DVD-Video DVD-R PS2 Game, with Unfortunately, the problem remains on the definition of CDs, apparently this laser is also almost out of date, I will look for a new one, but I gained invaluable experience in assembling and disassembling PSX DVR drives, in general there was little in the world who did it, well, except in service centers in Japan where they were repaired biggrin
now, however, I can easily fix any PSX with a dead drive: soon I’ll post a revised and fully prepared instruction with files using a simple soft mode of any PSX and PS2 with HDD OSD or PSBBN, the principle of the soft mode is the same, except for a couple of small nuances that I have I'll tell you, all this will be posted here, here's the news, if someone needs a PSX drive repair or help with a softmodom, write here:

In continuation of the topic, I also ask for help with the translation for x500 x700 models
So, I have PSX DESR-7500, with firmware version 2.06, since I already had a translation for firmware version 2.11, I started to improve it and applied it to my PSX, because I didn’t notice much difference in the files, and indeed, most of the menu Translated successfully and works well, but there are problems with some menus, and I still cannot solve them, for example, in the music menu, I see applications with the AIDJ icon, but when I click the triangle to bring up the menu for it, I get this:

If I select a folder with music, for example, samples of music for X-Dj and click the triangle I see it:
There should be 4 menu items here, and they actually exist, I can move between them, and they work, but their names are not displayed

If I go into this folder, for example, and click the triangle on any audio file instead of the menu, I see this:
here a similar situation, 3 lines of the menu, only one is displayed, all work
Also when I select any installed application in the game menu, I see information lines and delete, but there is no line to play (or launch), you can select it and it works, but its name is not displayed
    [IMG]
I need any help to understand whether it is incompatibility of any firmware files 2.06 and 2.11 (namely translation files) or I just missed some files where these lines are written, who knows what files contain the lines of these menus, and even better there are examples of the correct files please write here so that I can finish the normal translation

The problem described above is no longer relevant, I found the problem, it was my jambs, already fixed, now all the menus are displayed as it should, the translation for the x500 x700 models is updated, but the translation version is not final, not quite still translated, not all bugs and shoals are caught, I will update the translation again soon :)

There is nothing difficult in installing games and applications, everything is similar to the usual PS2 FAT with HDD OSD or PSBBN installed

Demonstration of the XMB menu for Sony PSX models DESR-5500-5700-7500-7700 using the Model 7500 as an example, the translation files are suitable for all the models listed, starting from firmware 2.06, also softmode, namely installed applications in the XMB menu and their place on the HDD, the softmod process itself is not shown in this video, the translation and softmod is done using the latest version of FreeMCBoot and UlaunchELF, as well as all the main menus and functions of this console are shown as closely as possible, except for launching the actual games PS1/2)
