well I have tried some ps2 games too, the PSX can read it but I the image is still like this one in my video no reaction of any button..... working since 2 years to get my psx work
OK it's very hard to give you a diagnostic, information is really scarce on these machines... Did you ever open it? Does it show any sign of damage? Could be the case that the HDD is failed, still spinning but lost its partition or something. Too bad you're not in the UK I could have had a look for you...
I've never opened the PSX and I don't "hear" any damage in the inside. I have got my PSX 2 years ago, and it did never work
I'd trade my boxed Jap PS2 for a Boxed working nice PSX. So what is the upshot on these units, do I want to upgrade the firmware? Or does it matter. I'm not going to be putting my PSX to the test with imports or anything.
Reviving an ancient topic, regarding Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction on PSX DESR 5100... Well, I recently discovered while selling my PSX that #1 my laser was busted can't read in upright position anymore but laying flat is working fine, I refunded the buyer and got the PSX back today and #2 the buyer pointed me out that I was using a PS1 Dual Shock controller with this machine... So I tried Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction again today with a "PS2" controller and indeed it's working fine :triumphant: So I'm very pleased to report that Kaido Battle 2: Chain Reaction is indeed compatible with the PSX and is actually a good game Now need to find a new laser... any thoughts as to what the 5100 uses as a laser before I open the beast?
I was going to say just try to find a PS2 Lens that is compatible... but the PSX DESR have burning capabilities so the lens is bound to be different. I do not believe you can buy an after market lens unless someone parted their PSX DESR out (Very unlikely as these things are pretty rare) you could always buy a busted one like they guy who had a white noise/ static causing 11 pound white brick and take the laser out of that and re-sell the whole system for parts again.
