The Halo Reach discs won't run on a dev kit because they're not dev games.

As noted by Borman, they're not even beta copies of Halo: Reach. The Reach code on there is bog standard retail code.

What those discs were testing was the XGD3 format and updated anti-piracy code in the new firmware at the time.

The reason Microsoft sent them out was to test the new anti-piracy stuff, and Reach was the most popular online game at the time.

 

but it would be possible to copy the disc with a jtag unit,patch the xex files and run the game on a dev kit then or?

 

They're retail discs. You would do the same as you would with a boxed retail copy.

nah,its nothing special..all i found is,that its not possible to change the language.
This disc is a final code,so more or less worthless for me and its for ps3 test units only

 

Those are really neat! - I'm currently working on getting all the GCN Kiosk discs myself. Up to about 1/3 of them so far. Also collecting NR discs too but the cost is getting kinda out of hand, lol!

 

yeah,the damn costs for the stuff you like..i know that problem.the second problem is to get THE stuff you want

 

I am still impressed. I have never even seen a final code beta, let alone anything pre-release, in real life before so I think most of them are cool...except retails haha. How are you able to pick up all of this disks? I am not trying to steal sources or figure you all out, I just think your collection is cool and I keep wondering where you are able to purchase all of these. I thought most of the unpressed disks are supposed to be put in the trash when they are done with them so I want to know how they make their way to you :smile-new:

 

im collecting stuff like that since around 10 years,so,sometimes you meet nice guys with nice stuff,sometimes you find cool stuff on ebay or elsewhere..

i got tons of more stuff i havent showed up here...
