Nope, there is no such thing as FFXI offline They all connect to the same servers at this point.

 

Not sure if there were two for FFXI PS2 in Japan, but what I have is at least two different PlayOnline B kits; one is just for the PlayOnline hub (+Tetra Master) and the other is for PlayOnline + Final Fantasy XI.

 

Wasnt there a closed beta, plus a more public one?

 

interesting..oh btw: i bought 2 halo reach preview discs,a silver and a green one...not exactly sure if they are rare or not

 

Yeah. On PS2 you had to sign up for it and get a "beta kit" shipped out to you. On the 360 they first had a closed one (mailed out), iirc, and then you had a public one for all regions (discs given out as pack ins with an issue of OXM in all regions. Got the JP and PAL discs myself)

 

Those are probably the ones that were shipped out to test the new DRM/Dashboard update. I have one here.

Yep, they came out after Halo Reach did, and were sent for free. I actually forgot I owned it to be honest. I dont even know if they function any more, I know they sent out Halo Reach downloadable codes.

They were a part of the same test, but had slightly different functions in terms of how the dashboard update and disk DRM worked I think. The disks werent meant to preview Halo Reach, but to preview the update that was coming for the console itself.

 

is there any chance to play both discs on a dev kit?I guess they are like retail discs and have to be dumped first and patched then

 

Yeah, most likely they would work if you did that. But it would really be the same as playing the retail hah

 

so these discs are just good for a collection..damn :-(

 

Yep, hope you didn't pay too much. I may have a few Japanese Xbox things on the way, along with some Japanese public betas, so Ill let you know when they get here in a month or so.

 

i paid around 55 dollor for both discs.
public betas are nice..if you dont want them,i am sure ill take them

The green version of the Reach disk works on my RGH but it's just retail. That said, I think the green version would fetch more than the silver version as it's a truly green Microsoft "green disk".

 

thanks for the info..to bad that both discs doesnt run on a dev kit,so i cant play the game
