Keep date, remove posts, IMO. I would also like to see people not use crude words in their 'description' :fresh:
*whistles by* if it ain't broken, don't fix it. it's like an RPG thing, using numbers just reinforces your integration with this community. The more time you have spent here, the more it is reflected in your quality AND quantity. People who can't be bothered to post, or just like to read threads are not as actively participating as those who offer some insight, especially in technical matters.
Post count, who cares about that? Sure, when a new member comes here ( for example me ), "I think wow he/she has been here for a long time", that's all I get out of seeing that *number*. I wouldn't judge or not read someone's post on the forum if they have 5 posts. It's just a number to me.
yeah i know what you mean. Ive brought some shit to the table around here and I'm not interested in talking about much other then what Ive posted myself. (2 years 4 months 500 posts) if their is someone out their who thinks he's better then me because he has more posts..... Speak Fourth .. but You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance. I WILL CRUSH YOU GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR:lol:
no i don't spam post but it is a way of knowing who to respect just a bit more , and ask questions . exactly right .
it's not a matter of someone being either "better" or "worse", but it does indicate participation. Don't forget that if you divide posts by days since joining date you get the average posting rate of a user, which is a healthy indication of his/her rate of participation. Statistics don't mean much when you're just reading/browsing a thread, but if you are after a specific answer from a "reputable" member then it's easier to understand their involvement and potential interest in helping you out based on their track record. in conclusion, it is my view that it's useful data. People can analyze it to obtain a better understanding and thus it furthers the sense of a community based on knowledge and participation instead of being just a casual forum.
True i have had a lot of help from people on this forum so knowledge is great we need both really..participation and knowledge
Interestingly, the concept of what is "prone", as in "profanity" (see=bad words, curse words, etc) is a religious concept. To tell me I cannot use any word ever created in the history of the human species is to enforce religion upon me. Obviously ASSEMbler himself can make this decision for the forums as they are his to do with. Personally, having a high post count combined with an early join date means you're an active poster who hasn't pissed too many people off with all of those posts. Must not be too bad right? And I like my HUGE e-penis kthnx.
What is this reputation meter for and is there a post somewhere explaining what it is for and how it works? Every now and then I'd use it as +1 if I liked a post and -1 if I disagreed. Then recently someone asked me why I hurt his reputation and I couldn't remember doing it. I had no idea people were notified of changes to reputation. I've always been confused by it and what purpose it served.
That's terrible. ^_^ I think we could use it for worse things so to speak, not -1 somebody because we disagree on something. Everybody can agree or disagree. (Please don't -1 me for this, hehe). ^_^
The way I think of it: "Should all members pay the price because some people are _<insert attitude here>_". In the end, it's not the forum or features that cause problems, it's the users.
Then why is it next to each post? If I wanted to say something about a person shouldn't it be on their profile. I figured it was like Youtube or Facebook where you like or dislike a post not the person who said it. Ohh well. I clicked on a ton of them yesterday. Soon I'll be another with the negative rep as all those people leave me retaliation negative rep ! lol
