    rtfm!
If you have it, hypothetically speaking of course...
More seriously, I'd guess in a similar way as on the Tool, do you have any software with your hypothetical dtp-*****?
The game is an umd or dvd?

    It's a dtp-t or l?
Have you tried to open it or to remove the the metal plates below the antenna?
Can you access the Administrator web interface?

The t1000 is the development tool, the l1500 and h1500 are test units, they don't have a network connector.
Is anything displayed on the vga monitor during boot?
Running a game on a test is just a matter of turning it on, with a dev unit you have to specify parameters on the reset, it uses the dsnet much like the Tool I guess, so a target manager like software would be useful, unless you can log on directly on the machine to run the dsreset-like command...

    Instruction manual for both units:
    https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=888572&fcc_id='AK8DTPT1001'

lots of good information. I never have been able to get a game to run on a tool either.

BTW do you know what the foot switch is used for and if you can get by without one?

Subbie would be the best choice to ask that as he is an actual PSP developer but i now officially hate you for having a PSPDevKit :( im so jealous.

Also i have the docs for the PSPDevKit somewhere if your interetesed :)

*EDIT* Just noticed uncluejun linked to them so no need.

For a Tool, you just use the prodg target manager or the codewarrior cwcomutil with the correct paramaters to reset the ee and iop, or with dsreset on linux or cygwin maybe.

Read this post from the ps3 devkit about the foot switch:
    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showpost.php?p=159680&postcount=9

So your hypotethic dtp unit is more a dev one or a test one?

Macwest, you should start a new thread for your psp problems, we're totally OT here...

pspwill, you should watch The Sopranos, it's a damn fine tv show, but I have to admit that "uncluejun" is nice, and correct most of the time I'm on this board, I should change my login..;)

At least they both are tools and Sony :) but you are right we are going off topic.

Thank you for the information. It answered many questions I had.

I'm sure Unclejun is fine with it, although another thread would make better sense. I'd love to get to grips with the PS2 TOOL and THEN and ONLY then purchase a PSP dev kit lol - learn to walk before I run. Of course, this is all purely hypothetical ;-)

    Yes that's fine with me...
Parris, if a psp dev or test unit shows up on ebay or any auctions website, you would bid whatever you said earlier I guess!

Anyone got any spare 14k boards lying around? :-( Damn it! I really thought the Tool would emulate as a standard!

parris, if you actually want to go into gamedev, you should start with psp. psp is a lot easier to program for... and you dont need a devkit, for neither of the systems. :)
