I want to know more about some models of PlayStation. 1. PSone debugger. I never heard about that one, but somebodies told, that it's really is. 2. Red PlayStation. NTSC/J region with the exclusive Kutaragi's signature, and someone said that there're only 5 to 7 units released. Not verified information! FALSE INFORMATION! 3. Yellow PlayStation also known as Formula 1 Edition. I find one photo only, but not more info were found. CUSTOM MODEL! 4. MIB Edition. Little piece of information. I know that PlayStation Museum (Hello to Curator!) has one of that. Only know, that it exclusive to NTSC U/C region. Wanted more information to be found. I think, that it's custom model also. Not official.
Yeah, and im sure the prick is sitting there playing RE 1.5 on it, laughing hysterically to himself going " yes!!!!!! my greedy ass is the only one who can play this!!""" Wow i would kill somebody in front of my own mother for a copy of re1.5
Not for nothing, but if he owns the game he can do as he pleases. You're entitled to NOTHING he owns, so get over it. Just the truth. Same way I am not entitled to any time with an attractive girlfriend anyone might have. Special painted editions aside, the white VCD one is rare. As to the PSONE debug, I have a PS2 that is labeled as such and will only play psone games, no dvds of any kind. I am sure they made debug ones as a stopgap... TEST ones? Who knows! Someone with sony developer access can just check the parts lists.
No pics. To be honest I haven't seen it in a long time. I was told the purpose of the unit was so reviewers could test the new model of the PSOne prior to release. The outside case looks a retail unit with some stickers saying the unit hasn't been approved for sale in the USA yet.
strictly speaking a Testing development unit is a unit that is able to play back non-factory-published titles, including CD/DVD/Custom media and HDDs. Debug units *should* allow for a real-time debug channel, usually through RS 232 (as on the GDEV). In reality debug units should have some extra circuits to handle the monitoring of the console for the purpose of locating bugs.
Debug playstations don't have anything special, apart from the case colour and they can play imports/copies. They all have serial ports for outputting debug messages, but the retails have that too ( except the psone and 9000's ). So debug == test for the purpose of comparing ps1 & ps2, I guess they changed it because you couldn't actually debug a game on it. The ps3 test becomes more confusing, because you can debug with it & you don't even need to burn a bluray as it comes with a built in emulator. off topic, I could probably do with a ps2 test one of these days. If anyone has a spare and doesn't plan to use it as their retirement fund.
Any truth to the rumor that there's something special about the audio hardware in the SCPH-1001 model? I recently bought one off a kid who was told he couldn't trade it in at the store; he was happy to have the five bucks and to not have to lug the thing home. And now I have another Playstation to add to the pile.
