Kirby 64 definately isn't rare, I saw multiple copies of the game at multiple stores driving around yesterday. Ogre Battle 64 is uncommon, but not rare (hell, I even bought a copy at a Gamestop yesterday) Paper Mario I would say is definately not rare (I saw copies at multiple stores yesterday) Command and Conquer might be uncommon, but saw that yesterday, too. The games I've seen the least of are Bomberman 64 2 (not Hero), and the second Castlevania game. Don't know how actually rare either one is, but I think the only time I've ever seen a copy of Bomberman 64 2 was yesterday at that Gamestop. I've always heard Starcraft is rare, but I see it pop up at stores all the time.
The original jpn release of mario 64 didnt have princess peach talking during the intro or mario talking when you leave him alone & he falls asleep. The rumble pak version uses the updated US version with the extra voice bits & adds rumble feature. Its pretty cool playing with rumble, they used it to great effect, another funny extra is the title screen where mario is in front of all those tv screens, if you press Z the screens all change to have marios face in them. The mario kart 64 joypad bundle is quite harder to find nowdays but not super hard yet, i have seen it a few times on ebay & quite a lot on yahoo. Mario no photopi is another uncommon game to find but the extra cards are extremely hard to find.
you know i remember that the japanes version also have two or 3 different paintings, as well as you mentioned not very many voice samples, in fact the U.S. version has mario saying more phrasese, noticible when entering a course, i have the regular japanese version of mario kart 64, i kinda miss the little voice changes they made to the U.S. version, but i do perfer the logos in the japanese one. Its shocking but alot of nintendo releases got changes when they came to the U.S. and europe. Star Fox 64 for instance doesnt have the option for the old voices that are blips in the U.S. version but i hear the european and japanses one has them. In fact i think i might make a thread on this, its quite intresting.
I remember waverace 64 had adverts round the courses for fanta that were removed in the western versions.
The rarest US releases are generally the games that were originally Blockbuster rental-exclusives: Clayfighter 63 and 1/3rd (Blockbuster exclusive) ISS 2000 (not Blockbuster exclusive, but damn rare) Indiana Jones & the Infernal Machine (only sold through Blockbuster & the LucasArts website) Stunt Racer 64 (Blockbuster exclusive) International Track & Field 2000 (Blockbuster exclusive) Razor Freestyle Scooter (Blockbuster exclusive) NFL Blitz Special Edition (Blockbuster exclusive) Transformers Beast Wars - Transmetals (Blockbuster exclusive)
ISS 2000 is rare? I see it often in flea markets or the black market down here. It is usually expensive, though.
Slightly OT but what should one expect to pay for the Perfect Dark Rumble Pack Boxset jp (ie game and rumble pack in bigger outer box with oh so sexy artwork, not a console bundle)? Cheers
I just saw it in a collectors' gameshop in Nagoya for 4500 Yen, which is more than what Sin & Punishment costs here.
Yeah, it's a similar case to ISS Deluxe on the SNES - the North American version was sold largely only in Mexico, since football (soccer) is much more popular there than in the States. As long as they're genuine copies rather than bootlegs, you could probably make a decent amount picking them up to re-sell on the US eBay site.
Dammit! Really? Because I recently, some three months ago, sold a mint-in-box copy of ISS Deluxe for the Snes for like 400 pesos (37 dollars). Could I have made more selling to the US? I really love that game, but I also had debts at that moment...
Yeah, probably - I know one sold for about $100-$150. It may not get that high all the time, but you could expect to get at least $75 or so.
Seventy Five DOLLARS? I make that working for two weeks... selling for 150 is ONE MONTH of my work. no way. :no sprite(xerdo).very_fucking_sad = "true"
Paper Mario is quiet Rare for Australian PAL as there was suposidly only 10,000 copies for this country... I even pre-ordered it from an EB, but they never got it in for me :smt022 Blockbuster basically bought them all. They also bought all the Resident Evil 2 games for N64..
Clayfighter 63 1/3 is probably the most difficult N64 game to find complete in box. There are a good number of carts out there, but I have never seen even a picture of the manual for(though it surely exists). ISS2000 is probably more uncommon in cart form from my experience but I see the box and manual along with it moreso than the Clayfighter. This probably has to do with their respective release dates and blockbusters's destructive behavior. The other rentals are quite uncommon, but there are usually a couple of each on ebay ever couple of weeks. I'm talking rarity as in how many exist, not how sought after. Sure, Starcraft, Ogre Battle and Harvest Moon are not too common in the wild or in general, but you will always have a good amount on ebay. That
