wow, puts things into perspective, i had a bit of knee surgery and a few doctorsvisits on top of that recently, because of the long waits in public hospitals i use a private practice, while its concidered to be alot more expensive here in sweden the whole shebang still didnt cost me more than $300..

hope you have a speedy and full recovery!

I offer you my best wishes of course.

Makes me feel extremely lucky to live in a country where health care is readily avaliable for free.

The stories he had on there were true.

Take for example my Mom and Uncle. Both went to the emergency room because they felt pain in their abdomen but turns out it was a kidney stone, and not a severe one. My mom had to pay $5,000. My uncle $7,000 and they did not spend the night at the hospital. They only stayed for a few hourse. These were separate incidents mind you. The only way you can tell who has insurance and who doesn't is that they put those without insurance in the hallways and leave the rooms for those who do.

Also, all the hospitals in my region (Central Florida) are run the by 7th Day Adventist. It's a monopoly here. Some other group was able to open up a hospital here finally bringing some good competition and they offer lower rates but the they are being sued by the 7th Day Adventist.

It's fucked up unless you got money and insurance.

Very sorry to hear about your health conditions. My best wishes to a full recovery. My family has recently had to deal with uninsured medical treatment in the US as well, and it's no pleasure that's for sure. Even at the fault of a drunk driver, you have to cover the bill first, then get reimbursement from the lawsuit. It's never a pleasant experience having several doctors turn you down just because you're uninsured.

Christ, that's pretty crap. Make sure you get plenty of rest!

The UK system is pretty weird; the National Health Service offers free (but fairly average) treatment, but if you have any treatment covered by health insurance the NHS will refuse to cover any part of the rest of the treatment. This meant that when I had cancer a few years back my insurance covered £45k-50k of it but I had to sponge ~£10k off my parents for the bits my insurance didn't cover...

Not sure there's a solution, really. Americans don't seem very keen on funding public health schemes with massive tax hikes so I doubt you'll get anything along those lines soon.

But yeah, take it easy and don't rush back :)

Maybe you should consider coming here, the French health system is (one of) the best. At least we have that.

Well, a new survey says, that Denmark has the best hospital care, but I doubt it. Because of the government we have at the moment. But other than that, then I am quite happy paying my taxes, and then getting treatments, such as surgery and other stuff via my tax payed. But since there has been quite a few cancer treatment scandals lately, then I doubt alot of stuff. And I really hate my Bush arse kissing government. But our wellfare smells fishy at the moment.

Got my tests back, slightly high glucose, slightly high WBC, low t3 (thyroid).
Nothing really bad, but the thyroid would explain why I've been tired
    as heck.

ive been injured in a dozen countries (including denmark) and while theyre not bad the healthcare in the Netherlands is hands down the best ive seen.

it is more expensive than the nordic countries (maybe about double) but still a small price to pay to have a healthy body imo.

glad to hear youre not seriously ill assembler, but dont neglect your rest because of the good news!!

Calm down, there's no reason to say "F*** USA." I feel bad for Kev like everyone else and I wish him well, but don't start posting hate speak as this is not the time or place.
