I saw the classic titles you just can't stand thread, and I couldn't really think of any. However, I can think of many many many recent games and franchises I cannot stand. I expect to get some flak for what I'm about to say, but I'm in the mood for a fight, especially for #5! Here's a list of the primary ones off the top of my head: 1. Minecraft - I absolutely cannot stand this game! The pseudo-3D 8-bit style is just so weak, and I hardly would call it innovative. I also fail to see the point of the game or why people spend so much time playing it. The fact that there's a million and one indie clones of the game make it worse for me. 2. Angry Birds - This is a given. It's not a bad game, but it's so overrated. It's like the "Halo" of casual gaming. 3. Halo - Also a given. Don't get me wrong, I DO like Halo, but only the 1st 3 installments. The first one was the best, the 2nd was disappointing but okay (hated the gfx), 3rd was a little better, but just okay and was where the series should have ended (or at least after Halo Wars). Hated ODST, Reach was kinda lame, Halo 4 just felt like another COD clone and the anniversary remake had no redeeming factors whatsoever. In fact, Halo was ruined by Microsoft and their crackheaded lead before it was even released as the content was reduced dramatically. Because of that, the game almost didn't ship in the first place. It was fun while it lasted... 4. Assassin's Creed - So sick and tired of this game. It's also very overrated with no redeeming factors. The player's costume looks so retarded. 5. FFX - XIII - I was a big fan of FF.... until X came along and a-bombed the whole thing. The elimination of break away battles ruined the FF experience. Maybe if it was called something else, I'd lower my expectations. I honestly tried to enjoy it, but couldn't. 6. Crysis - Ugh, just another game for gfx whores... the stench of them just turns me away. 7. COD - Once again, don't get me wrong, I DO like COD and have had loads of fun playing it... the single player that is. Multiplayer is just filled with immature kiddies and people that don't seem to have lives outside of the game. It's not the game that bothers me, it's the fans. 8. Grand Theft Auto - This game has never interested me in the slightest, just like ALL other titles Rockstar is involved in (except Max Payne). The only redeeming factor GTA4 had was sitting down watching TV. That was so hilarious, I'd buy the game just to watch the TV. Other than that, what's the point? 9. Saints Row - IMO, better than GTA, but felt like a wanna-be GTA. 10. Metal Gear Solid series - Okay, don't get me started on this one... the fans... the fans... the fans...
blueshogun96 , I agree with your picks except for Saints Row. GTA tries to be clever and full of social commentary but it falls on deaf ears. SR on the other hand is just plain dumb. You don't have to humanise the sociopathic protagonist, the mayhem in the game is unrealistic and tongue-in-cheek, so unless you hate open-world killing games there's little to hate about SR besides a personal perspective.
Dead Rising Mario Kart Wii Super Paper Mario Sonic Rush Guilty Gear/BlazBlue/Arcana Heart/Aquapazza/Melty Blood etc. Skullgirls Uncharted 1 Heavy Rain Anything made by Cave in the last decade or so + most other bullet hell games Gran Turismo 5 Gears of War Fallout 3
I didn't like FO3 either. I mean the setting was fantastic but rummaging for every bit of crap gets tiresome after a while, not to mention the weapons that break after five uses. Which is why I used a trainer to enjoy it lol.
I don't like most Mario games either.. I guess that makes me a close-minded dipshit too :highly_amused:
I said Super Paper Mario, and my cut-off for "recent" was "released this gen". Thousand-Year Door was great, but SPM was just tedious. Sorry that my opinion offends you.
You're just inviting a big shitfest with this thread, you know. Do you guys enjoy fighting? Is it impossible to have a civil conversation here anymore?
There should've been a rule at the beginning of the thread: "No replying to other people's comments."
Final Fantasy (series) - what I most do not like in this game is the characters that look like Chinese dolls :dejection:
I don't visit or post here enough to notice how you all react to such topics, let alone petty disagreements. I kinda assumed that you guys wouldn't fight over any of this. Sometimes I like to have an occasional civil argument, but wow, this is going south rather fast. Wow, and I thought modern day ngemu was bad... I have been here long enough to form some opinions on certain members here, some good others bad. Not that it really matters, you guys are alright with me (except one guy who I find kinda annoying) but I think at least half of you guys are pussywhipped manginas, and no, I don't mean that as an insult either. This. I didn't exactly "like" your comment about Cave and bullet hell shooters because I'm a big fan of them plus I spent a large chunk of my life coding two of them, but I won't go as far as to flame you for disagreeing. Why can't people grow the f@#% up and stop arguing over trivial stuff like other people's opinions? If I had a dollar for everytime someone gave me shiznit for not liking FFX though... You know what, now I'm kinda tempted to rustle up some more feathers! Will I get flak for saying that I like Killzone for PS2? Or for saying that I hated Breakdown and Sudeki for Xbox? Or what will happen if I say I prefer/like console FPS games? Or, my personal favourite, will I be hated for liking Azurik: Rize of Perathia? Define awesome.
- Anything from EA, Capcom and Codemasters - Corporate DLC freaks. - COD / BF - Not only because of them but also because the majority of the people who play those things are idiots. They have such a high opinion on themselves, simply because they play an adrenaline rush combat game with a Michael Bay movie style and storyline. - Anything from Namco - They simply dumb down every single franchise they had. - Aliens Colonial Marines - It shows everything that is wrong with the game industry today. -
I only played one game by Codemasters (afaik), and that was "Ultimate Stuntman" for NES, and I liked it. I assumed they were out of business, but I guess not. Never played Colonial Marines, but had a feeling that it wouldn't live up to the reputation of AvP Gold from 1999.
