Dead Rising for me. It was the first game of this generation that got me really excited and it was appalling to play. It's confusing, clumsy, the day/night mechanic is a sin against celestial mechanics. The absolute impenetrable pitch darkness I could have gotten down with if I hadn't been required by the mission structure to run around blindly in it with nothing more than a flimsy light sabre that breaks after three swats of a zombie. You're underpowered across the board, from the start, with the only way to get any enjoyment is through grinding. Grinding in an action game, no thanks.
How come nobody has said any actually badly made game that have came out recently like the new Aliens game? Or Raccoon City? This thread confuses me because I ahven't really seen anyone talk about really bad games with terrible gameplay.
too obvious i guess. colonial marines looked dated/tired even from the videos that were available months before the release... dont think anyone expected too much from it
Gears of War: Judgment - I played all 3 Gears games and finished them all. I even finished Gears 1 on Insane, but I just couldn't stand this one. The objectives on every area was boring, the characters were nothing special ... I think if they had put Cole as the main character instead of Baird the game would at least me funnier. The gameplay is just the same as the other games and I was expecting that People Can Fly would do something different to the gameplay after playing Bulletstorm, which I liked. Resident Evil 6 - Playing for the first time was nice, playing for the second time with another character was okay, but playing for the third time was too much. I didn't even bother to finish it to play with Ada and I also didn't bother to download the patch so that I could play with Ada right away. The Chris campaign was way too much like COD but I did like Leon's campaign. Assassin's Creed III - The 6 hour long tutorial felt waaaay too long, there was a lot of bugs and the ending ... I don't even like to remember it. But I did like the very beginning of the game and the twist.
The Call of Duty games. There not the worst game, but there all the same thing over and over. Encouraging 6 year-olds to swear is there mission. Also, I like Minecraft. It isn't a bad game and it is easy for people to make mods and plugins for. It is essentially Gary's Mod + Legos. The profit from plugins I make for it help fund more serious projects and independent titles that I am programing. EDIT: Also movie/tv games. After so many years you would think they would be better.
I hate any game where you drive a car (racing or otherwise) and the only control schemes are to use the shoulder buttons for accelerate/braking.
I hate it even more when you have to drive AND shoot. I think the triggers for racing is fine, like on a Dreamcast, but any other time I get frustrated easiliy.
Because it's not interesting. You hate Colonial Marines? Big deal, so does everyone else. Not true, there's a post about Dead Rising on this page
I'm on the Dead Rising boat. This game was actually one of my reasons to buy an Xbox 360 a while back and it disappointed me greatly. Why in the world would a bowling ball disappear after using it 3 times? If I punch 3 mushy zombie heads, does that really break a BOWLING BALL?? Or a sword, a chainsaw, a goddamn screwdriver??? I do not think so, Capcom. Up yours, Dead Rising is dead to me. Whole game ruined! >_>
Uncharted 2. I can accept characters having bullet sponge bodies, but not bullet sponge heads. If someone is shot point blank in the face they shouldn't be able to just shrug it off.
