I'm going for a full PAL set regardless of how awful the games are, as evidenced by my ownership of disney magical quest racing tour :p Also planning to get the US games which weren't released over here as long as the money allows it.
There weren't that many good euro exclusives were there? Shemue II, Headhunter, Rez, Evil twin, the only other euro exclusive I can pull off the top of my head is Taxi 2 and that game is just awful, so awful that I'm considering not buying it and calling my collection a "UK PAL collection"
Not all the cartoon games are completely awful though, donald duck quack attack is a pretty decent 3D platformer and Looney tunes space race and Wacky races are pretty decent kart racers, if a tad mediocre

(Tongue in cheek post - saying that to avoid any moronic assumptions....)

You only need to play / own one game this gen. Bayonetta. 360 it is then!

On a more serious note. This has to be the 1st console gen where 'what your mates have' is quite important to a growing number of purchasers. Chatting shit to your mates all night long while playing different games / games together....

A bit of people here saying they don't feel they're missing out with having a 360 over a ps3. My first console of this generation was an xbox 360 and I enjoyed it, but being on ps3 now, I don't feel like I'm missing out at all. All of the current games I like are on ps3, and there are no exclusives for xbox I care about. I do still have an xbox but its rrod... I don't know why I don't get rid of it like I did my first 3...

I'm not a fan boy, but there's nothing a 360 can do that my ps3 cant. As far as being "made by sony" I don't care. At least is wasn't made by microsoft, a company I really do genuinely despise above all others and refuse to buy anything directly from (now, I had a different opinion about them before when I used windows on my computers and actually bought the 360).

Plus, my first console ever was a ps1, and since then have owned every playstation made. I'm used to the controller that has never changed, its the controller I grew up with. I also own a nes, snes, n64, and gc and I have enjoyed these nintendo consoles too, it's just xbox I've never really been able to get into. Plus I use my gameboy more than psp for games.

As for sega, I only recently got my first dreamcast about a year ago. Its a nice one, the black sports edition. Came with box and was only $3 at a garage sale. Was happy when I bought it because I would finally be able to play the sonic games I fell in love with on my cousins dreamcast when it came out. Unfortunately, a year later, all I have is tactics ogre for the dreamcast, so its just on the shelf looking nice. :banghead:

Anyway, I never had a reason to own one console over another until recently. Now I own a ps3, and prefer it to the almighty xbox 360.

Rez, Evil Twin and Headhunter are all good reasons to be envious. Even though I have Rez on PS2 and 360 (360 version is best of course)

The thing is I don't want to pay for a game I won't play Unless it's such complete ass that covering it on Retrocade would be the funniest thing ever.

Actually I might just agree with your joke there. There are few games this gen I Enjoy more than Bayonetta. The Jokes, Action and Sega Fan service are all amazing.

Still don't get why they used after burner music instead of hang on music during that amazing motor cycle level though.

    Do you like Shmups?

    Do you like retro games?

    end of story

The Genesis was a reused System-16 board, a hardware that was on par with the latest computers of the time like the Mac and the Amiga, but was already 5 years old when the Genesis launched.

Overall I don't think Sega really thought the Genesis was going to be that successful, specially after they got beaten by Nintendo in the largest markets (USA and Japan) so they didnt bother.

The Master System was better than the Nes yet it failed

I own a PS3, and not a 360. Mostly it's because the PS3 has several exclusives that I like or am interested in (Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Twisted Metal, The Last Guardian, Ni No Kuni, PS2 HD Collections). The other reasons I have no interest in a 360 are:

I don't like UIs that're covered in advertisements.
    I don't like Cases that're full of holes (eco-frindly)
I don't like having to pay extra for multiplayer
    I don't like region locks
I don't like having to worry about system failure rates
I don't like AA battery eating controlers with lousy D-pads
I don't care about Gears of War or Halo

My biggest problem with PS3 is how some games require installs before they can be played. However it doesn't bother me nearly as much as any of the 360s problems.

Not at all, System 16 has vastly superior hardware more in line with the Neo Geo. Genesis is really a platform of it's own, somewhere between a Master System and the System 16. It was quite capable at launch only having to compete with the NES.

Also Genesis is really superior to Amiga OCS (which has to blit all graphics and soft-synthesize audio) and Mac (which has no A/V acceleration...).

I highly disagree with this statement, I think the Master System/Mark III was very poorly designed for its release. The main pitfalls are:

-a single palette each for sprites and backgrounds which makes efficient use difficult
-6-bit RGB = 64 colors = not enough range to do both a bright and colorful game scene so many games were dark and dingy in order to use more colors
-4 bpp (16-color) tiles eat up VRAM fast. The SMS can use fewer tiles simultaneously than the NES because VRAM is also used for nametables and sprite attributes where NES has separate memory spaces
-The SN76489 is ridiculously inferior to the NES' built in PSG. Sega was really cheap to not even include two of them like the System 1. Even the FM unit isn't that great since only one channel is programmable so all games share the same instruments = lame.

The Bleep bleep bloop of the master system's music was it's biggest flaw.

However I am and will always be a fan of Black Belt

    AND time to retort again

I don't like UIs that're covered in advertisements.

    You communist asshole

    I don't like Cases that're full of holes (eco-frindly)

Buy a new model 360, not full of holes

I don't like having to pay extra for multiplayer

I don't like having my credit card info stolen

    I don't like region locks

All the good stuff on 360 is Region free

I don't like having to worry about system failure rates

If you buy a 360 Slim you won't have to worry

I don't like AA battery eating controlers with lousy D-pads

This controller wants to have a word with you

I forgot about the advertisements... I HATE ads. besides that, I never really liked the UI of the xbox to begin with. even the newer revisions.

and just found out about the region lock thing a few days ago, i used to think 360 was region free...

AA batteries, yeah they messed up with that. would rather used a wired controller than be buying batteries.

Personally, never paid for live, only used it when I would get free monthly cards or giftcards.

About getting credit cards stolen, im sure if he didnt like paying for online, he probably didnt have his card registered.

    Solution: PSN point cards.

Akai Katana Shin, Senko no Ronde: Dis-United Order, Entaku no Seito: Students of Round, etc. aren't good?

The Mode button was to put the 6-button controller into 3-button mode. This was done because some games would crash if the 6-button controller was plug in. You would hold down the Mode button when turing on the machine.

I can't remember which games that did this, I don't think it was many. I keep thinking Wing Commander SEGA-CD was one of those games, but like I said I don't remember.

PS3 cases use less plastic by default (they're smaller then normal dvd cases), is that what you mean? Because I've never seen a ps3 case with holes in it.

I wasn't trying to argue that PSN is better. Honestly I've never played a game on PSN. I don't really understand why online multiplayer is such a big deal to people. I played Halo 3 online for a while, and while it was fun at first, it got old pretty fast. It seems like a novelty to me, and people act like it's an essential part of a game.

I have a heap of games - I have never seen an 'eco case' for either platform (or any disc based packaging for that matter). :/

    Are they worldwide?
