Well I've just asked if there are 3 pieces left. If anyone is serious about wanting one (once I've heard back from the store) should be prepared to pay via paypal along with shipping to their country. This thing is slim and light, it can be shipped in a padded envelope along with a carton piece in order not to bend easily. BUT I will only send to users I trust , I really really don't want paypal cases for missing stuff in the mail, I've seen my share of them around the forums. Remember I won't charge a cent more than the adapters + shipping will cost, this is a service to fellow users not something to make a profit.
sadly it turns out that the adapters are out of stock ... the guy looked for any left but found nothing.
@keropi i got a few (4-5) of them lying around. All have been tested and work fine. If there is any interest i would sell them.
here are the pics of the adapter: http://www.mediafire.com/view/1366dvs2l61ea4w/WP_20141109_003.jpg http://www.mediafire.com/view/ign152qaiq142po/WP_20141109_001.jpg http://www.mediafire.com/view/ndf3ae4aqa1vu0n/WP_20141109_007.jpg http://www.mediafire.com/view/yytb7wq3nvtamf3/WP_20141109_008.jpg download or use the zoom function to get the full size
I've got a spare IDE Kreon drive if anyone is ever interested 9one of those used in PCs to rip games. No idea how useful it is as a replacement drive). I'd love to manufacture some adapters but it just doesn't seem like the market is there yet. Plenty of XBoxes to go around with working ethernet ports. That talismoon adapter doesn't appear to be anything toooooo special which means it's ripe for cloning.
That's what I was thinking. Seems like a simple board with a micro processor. Could possibly be easy to copy the program off the processor and flash new ones... I'm sure people here could do it, if not I know people that build led drivers that could easily do it, as long as the code is not encrypted
Good to know the chip can be identified. It'd be good if these could get reproduced considering many still like using discs for their systems.
This is the idea All this IC is doing is getting the tray status and passing through load and eject signals... don't know why they bothered with a new front PCB (maybe to justify some stupid price tag).... This PCB (the one with micro) could theoretically be used on almost any drive because most PC drives will work the same if my PC ever loads the picture ill see if my programmer can read the chip, if so I'll get one and clone it.. For homebrew a pcb is not necessary.. actually it's better as you could easily fit this inside a PC dvd drive..
It looks like a socket-type too, so hopefully it'd be quite easily to clone it. Not that desoldering it would be hard, but would be good for testing.
do not forget that the adapter alone is not enough to make this work, you need to flash the drive with a special firmware and from that point on it can be only be used for xbox stuff AFAIR
