yes FW is another obstacle but moot.. I am assuming the modified FW works exactly the same to the keron FW for Samsung drives.. If thats the case it will read all discs, as it probably has the Xbox media ID added to the FW IE: Disc ID=XboxGame Start at sector blah de blah.. Another option would be to use an xbox 360 drive either with no DVD key or running 08080 FW. Simple Plug in a SATA to IDE adapter and fit this chip to handle open and eject ect... I think I still have a 08080 drive somewhere, when I get some extra cash I'll buy an adaptor and give it a go Wonder if someone could modify the FW on a Bluray Drive (there where some IDE pioneer models back in the day).. Xbox doesnt have enough memory to playback bulray movies but imagine a super multi disk game heheh... I wonder if there is a way to write media using xbox and some homebrew?? Anyone tried it under linux??

This tutorial I wrote way back in like 2004 for the SD-616T for the original XBox. Someone might find it useful, who knows.
I remember that you can use a normal DVD But it got pro´s and con´s http://xbox-scene.com/articles/dvddrive.php 1/ You can NOT play original discs this way , you will have to reconnect the IDE-cable to the Xbox DVD-drive if you want to play an original games. 2/ You will have to keep your xbox open. Make sure you protect it from dust. 3/ It's unsure if this tricks works with ALL PC DVD-drives. It has been successfully tested with LG8160B , Pioneer DVD- 105SZ , PIONEER DVD-106S , lite on 16x & SD-M1612 tosiba.
I think you must have had a problem with your first post on the forum containing loads of picture links, as the auto-moderation seems to want to keep your posts. It'll stop happening eventually, but if a post doesn't appear immediately (and you should get a message), don't repost it - someone will get round to approving it
Little Off topic but how do you get the Xbox bezel to fit on the new Drive tray? I cant get mine to fit, it seems too small.
