props on the new exploit imo there we wont see homebrew scene like on xbox1, to many indie developers just deving apps for andriod ext. atleast not to the extent of the original xbox
This is absolutely sexy, been watching this for a while before it went mainstream, When a rebooter comes out and the amount of work decreases to achieve said end goal I believe this will be a JTAG give away.
We don't need a "rebooter" in the literal sense of the word as the machine has not even finished booting. In the case of JTAG hack, a "rebooter" was necessary because at the time the hack is triggered, the machine was already initialized and with a proper kernel running. What we need for the reset glitch is: Some "rebooter" which allow us to keep the current specification for patched kernels or ... A new loader that simply loads and patches (or loads an already patched) an kernel for the box to boot into. Both do not exist yet, but I suspect it won't be long until we're properly served.
Yes the chips have nothing to do with reading and writing the nand, unless something new comes out to do it. Recently there was a 360CLIP shown that u just clip to the nand and it will read it with an external programmer, but you still have to have the chip to actually run home brew. Hawk
What does it mean by the sucess rate? That only 1/4 of consoles can be hacked or you just might need to reboot it a few times to get it?
The way it's set up, instead of RROD on fail the smc is patched to cause the console to reset instead. So, while you have 100% success, sometimes it happens quickly (very few resets), sometimes it takes a while (a bunch of resets.) For slim, each reset/try takes a fraction under 5.25s - in a practical test of 3 consecutive power-ons (without removing power or anything), every power on successfully glitched but... 1 - 24 resets(2m6s) 2 - 13 resets(1m9s) 3 - 10 resets(50s) I've had it (more than once) work without even resetting once, other times it takes 2-3min. In this (tiny) sample's case, it was just incidental (entirely by chance) the time of each decreased.
Has anybody had any luck with a phat console, I've tried a zephyr and a 512mb jasper and neither will work, the zephyr 3 RROD's, and the jasper just sits there. I let it go for 7 minutes, I know I timed it, and it never booted. My slim works perfect, but I've had no luck with phats. Heres some pics of the install, any ideas? Hawk
If it's broken to begin with, the exploit won't work .... Put the original flash dump back and check if the error code you get on the RoL is 0102 (E18) or 0110 (E20) which respectively means that RAM to GPU lines are broken or shorted. The unit will not boot with that kind of hardware problem even through glitching. Edit: I think you need a different program on the CPLD for Phats, too...
He was saying it rrod's with the board in, not that it was rrod before hand. Bad flashing/wiring issues can cause RROD on a working console - had it with a problematic console, but always worked with original nand.
it seems problematic all round i put my slim back together and it dosnt work but when its apart it works....
Above problematic console was in reference to normal jtag hack (same thing still applies in this case tho). Still waiting on parts for this one.
