Apparently a 1.5 progress build of the current restoration has been leaked online:

This here is an ISO of our work in progress build of the Resident Evil 1.5 restoration project. It is not representative of the current state of development of the non-profit restoration fan-project. The build you now have downloaded is a bit of an unstable mess. The instability mainly comes from a tiny experiment we were running on this very build and the build itself had the joke name "Magic Zombie Door". It's an old build and in no way representative of the current state of missing room implementation, restoration of broken elements, or addition of new content.

Many of the features you see in the build, as explained in our making of videos, comes from injecting pieces of C code that adds features and functionality that was broken, missing, or otherwise needed. There's a terrible bug we internally called "Air Jesus" present in this build, a legacy issue from the vanilla build, where inspecting objects will often cause ... undesirable results. This bug has since been fixed, but is currently present in this build. While, technically, the load feature works, the save feature's brokenness makes it pretty useless. These are also features that're fixed and will be working in the final release. There are also many stability issues that causes the game to crash or otherwise misbehave, most of these have since been fixed too. So unless there's a very Konami Code-esque approach to how you trigger a randomized and reproducable bug, please don't lose your breath attempting to report bugs to us.

Resident Evil and the Biohazard are property of Capcom. The project is an unofficial fan-effort, entirely non-profit, comparative to such other fan efforts as Street Fighter x Megaman, Megaman X Corrupted, Dark Biohazard, various modifications to other Resident Evil titles, and so forth. All with purpose and intents of a non-profit nature, and rooted entirely within what most would consider fair use and the healthier side of fandom - aimed exclusively at providing fellow fans with a glimpse into a world that once could've been and to enable them to revisit the world of Survival Horror once more in the way only the 90s could, whilst at the same time showing our own love and support to a franchise, platform, and decade we hold dear.

 

Just a word of advice, you should REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY choose your topic titles more carefully. I can see this topic going south really fast if people tl;dr the post there and just download the file because OMG ISOZ MUST BE LEGIT.

It was released but only after some ASSHOLE on the team was caught selling copies of 1.5 before they were ready to release it so in a way it was both leaked and released at the same time, it was leaked by some inconsiderate fuck that tried to be slick and make money on everyone else's work so the team had no choice but to release their work early so this douche couldn't profit from the game.

 

If it is ok'd I will happily upload this for everyone to play. I have bene toying with it all day on my PS3 and launches and works great from within Multiman.

Resident Evil 1.5 Build 2 Here is the new build just released today.

 

I'm going to wait for a DL that is 100% RE 1.5, not a link where even admin has to ask.

 

No it's not vanilla 1.5, it's a hex edit of the bastardised version that was released to prevent the sale of the build that leaked.

It crashes left and right, is disjointed and generally unplayable. Unless you're really dying to play some form of 1.5 I'd hold off on this one.

People on forums all over are using this an another excuse to bitch and complain about this game now, discussion has gone from "A friend of a friend's cousin's dog walker has a build and I can't talk about it, but he touched my face once" to "why have they given us this shitty build, they did this on purpose! they have no talent - bastards! go die in a fire!" basically.

 

Hello I'm a fan of resident evil 2 1.5 but i tried downloading it had problems with my PC, it kept diverting to other files. The 1.5 burned but didn't work! I think i would be much happier if this version contained the game cutscenes with voice over as the game original intended and japanese subtitles. Also the blood working on zombies when hitting them??? Also the soundtrack should work much better. I think still its a good effort -- i'll hold on for the darkbiohazard mod? Thank You:nightmare:

 

The version that has been released is not the proper 1.5, it has the following problems: (including more I haven't listed here because I can't be arsed)

• Doesn't work on real PSX hardware
• Is a build made from an incomplete modified version of 1.5
• Needs an emulator to be able to play properly (preferably pSXfin)
• TONS of bugs and crashes caused by the code being fiddled with by this team who are restoring it

The version that's out now is basically an old and incomplete version of what's being worked on. It's not properly been released yet, the final version will work on real hardware supposedly and will have pretty much none of the problems that this version has.

They released this to stop someone from trying to sell it on ebay.

The easiest way to think of this is an alpha of a beta that shouldn't really have been released...

 

Thanks for info tried pSXfin didn't work got tons a line of code telling this is illegal code -- it was was waste of an afternoon -- take care anyways!

 

No problem, as for the problem you're having - use a different BIOS (preferably SCPH1001), google PSX bios, there is a zip file full of them at emuparadise.

 

I have played a good portion of this and with the level select one can get pretty darn far. Not to be a douche but it isnt as buggy as Geist Force. Working fine on chipped PS1, PSOne, PS2, and via Multiman on PS3. The build I posted is a lot better then the first release. You get stuck at the first door in the first build and have to use level select right away to progress. Give the second build a shot.

 

To be fair, it isn't a second build, but rather the first build that has been hexedited to do some other stuff.

And it's a complete mess, but they did warn everyone about that on release.

The people who released it called it a crap incomplete mess. As for being grateful, yeah it's nice to play something but for a lot of folks that isn't enough.
