The Dodge button was the best thing to ever happen to VF, I miss it.

With No Model 3 emulation and the Dreamcast Port of VF3 being shit I have no real way to compare VF3 to Tekken 3.

Somebody on Hardcoregaming 101 mentioned Sega is really neglecting VF and might not do a console port of the series ever again....

Which proves one thing...Namco has better Business sense than sega does.

 

Ridge Racer is still a lot of fun to play though, so I dont feel like its suddenly gone down hill. It just never went up any really.

 

The Best Ridge Racer is the PSP Ridge Racer at least in my opinion. The First game more a Demo than anything.

I guess my love of Tekken comes from playing it as a kid, used to spend days playing Tekken 3 with friends and beating them all.

Really though, Third Strike is the best fighting game. :dance:

Although VF2 sucked me in for about a billion hours, and I still play it. It's one of those games that I'll just never be done with.

Vf3 is to VF what Tekken 4 is to Tekken.

I have fond memories of Tekken 3. My dad used to work for Motorola and they have so many international trips they auction off he had won 2 tickets to london for a week. This was in February of 97 There was a Namco Arcade somewhere in London (Down the street from Sega world and Planet Hollywood) at that arcade was a beta for Tekken 3. I picked Nina and pwned.

I also played VF3 for the first time in the arcades of London.

it's a very good one. I for myself still prefer RRV on PS2. it was an awesome game at that time. so was RR Type-4 for the ol' PSone.

Both are considered the black sheep of their respectivee series. Both changed the way the game was played significantly and both had such a huge backlash that the next installment was back to basics.

 

I've never been a fan of 3D fighters. I'll take Super Turbo over any 3D fighter every time.

I never liked the VS fighting genre until I played SF II Turbo & SF Zero 2. Then I tried it w/VF and Tekken, but I think they're both not as encouraging for newbies (me) like a good 2D Street Fighter or something like Garou, Samurai Spirits and Last Blade.

 

Then there's Dark Edge...which doesn't know what it is.

But yeah there is something very pure about Super Turbo. There's a reason it's still the template for all fighters.
