@ la-li-lu-le-lo, no, it also came out on the PSX but only in Japan I think, don't remember seeing a PAL release anyway. EDIT: A quick search on eBay shows it came out in the USA too, must have been near the consoles launch because it's in one of those bloody stupid shaped long boxes.
Ah, yes I recorded in 1080i then converted to 480p (DVD MPEG). That's why. Great news on the Tokyo Game Show 2005 disc! I got the data recovered from the original DVD! So the show in now being encoded in to F4V flash format (High quality 480p) in sections. The reason for this is because the data recovery files are all the single VOB files from the DVD and converting them in to one single file will take forever with my PC. So the show will be uploaded in sections which is handy since each section is a major company's booth. I'll also make a DVD image file so anyone who wants to can burn a DVD and watch on the TV with a menu system as well. I'll also upload a bonus DVD of Booth girls from the show Yakumo
Great video. Haven't watched the earlier ones yet, but will at some point, and obviously I love the idea of a video series focused on the Saturn. Still..."one of the least common shooters on the Saturn"? I always thought In The Hunt was on the more common side as far as Saturn shooters go, not as common as Layer Section or Darius Gaiden of course.
Isn't it also one of the few games that refuses to work on a non-Japanese Saturn, even after modding? Or is this a misconception based on the amount of dud copies?
In the hunt isn't all that common to be honest or at least in Japan it's lower the likes of Batsugun or Cave shooters. OK, I've now converted the sections of the TGS 2005 special in to 11 parts from the DVD VOB files. The problem is that some of the VOB files had damaged audio tracks so some loose audio halfway through. The actual VOBs seem fine though when played as a DVD. Hmm, anyway, I don't have time to mess about fixing the problem so the separate files and a DVD image file will be uploaded this weekend. Yakumo
Retro Core SS Vol:04 - Snowboarding Special http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3CmMEPXku4 This week Retro Core takes a look at all the Snowboarding games available for the Sega Saturn (Which is not a lot) including one previously unreleased game, Chill. Due to the video length restrictions my YouTube account has (15 minutes) the last minute of this video is missing. The full version will be available from the official Retro Core site this coming Monday (21st March) with higher quality video and audio. www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm Also Saturn fans, don't forget to check out the Segagaga Domain Saturn store at www.segagagadomain.com/store/the-store.htm
Hooray, new episode! I must say, I have Steep Slope Sliders and it's really difficult to play after being comfortable with modern snowboarding games. It is great, though, and I just simply suck!
Daaaayum, those games are SO Xtreme in-your-face 90's that it feels like... well, I was going to make an analogy about grunge music and 33.6 kb modems or whatever. But it's so, SO 90s. The music, the style, the design. Man, I really dislike snowboarding games. Maybe the one by cave looks decent. But still, awesome show, as always.
The Retro Core Tokyo Game Show 2005 Special is out NOW!! 6 years after it was removed due to a certain company not being too happy about some footage featured on it. The files are in 11 parts on YouTube with a true DVD image file coming very soon to the official Retro Core site. Just head on over to YouTube and type "Retro Core - Tokyo Game Show Special 2005 - Pt ?" in to the search box. Where "?" is, enter the part number you'd like to see. Yakumo
Is this the one where you went to the Broccoli Booth and the girls had the Galaxy Angel uniforms on? Damn, that was so sexy.
Thank you I'll hold out for the DVD image, watching stuff like this on YouTube kinda kills the immersion for me, it needs to be appreciated on a big screen
Yep, it will be. I probably have photos of them on the bonus DVd as well. That isn't on YouTube as of yet though.
Oooh, let me know when that is available. Now that Broccoli USA has disappeared and pretty much everything from my favourite anime has gone off the radar, I like finding these little blasts from the past.
Well, looks like the DVD image will have to wait because last night one of my hard drives died and it would just happen to be the one will all the program files and OS on it. A new HD should be here in a few days. So until that arrives there no more retro core. Yakumo
The look and feel of those games is so nostalgic. 90s and 80s anime rocked so hard! These games, FMV as they may be, look fun if only because of that. It's got the feeling I had, being a teenager and watching anime in VHS until insane hours of the night. The colours, the sounds... So, so awesome. Every time I see your program, it makes me desire a Saturn even more. One day, I'll get one. This reminds me of another similar laserdisc game with a 3D element. Did you ever play Time Traveller on that Sega Hologram arcade system?
