Oh yes. I remember seeing that for the first time. I must have been 12 or something like that. It was an awful game yet so amazing with it's holographic technology. I had a hard drive crash last week which lost me 250GB worth of data. Included in that data were all the raw files for Retro Core SS Vol:4 So I'm afraid iT's gone forever :-( The only version now available is that version on YouTube. Yakumo
I'm afraid so. Sorry. I do still have the original F4V file that i uploaded to YouTube so I'll add that one to my site. It's still missing the end but at least the image and sound quality are better than the YouTube version. Yakumo
Aaand that's why backups are important. I blather on about RAID enough, maybe it'll rub off on someone eventually
I do back stuff up but I was unlucky with that episode as the hard drive went down just after publishing the video.
Volume 6 is out now and takes a look at 5 titles from the Sega Ages series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfEVq4j9D94 The Retro Core Home Page version will be added this weekend. Yakumo
Volume 7 out now taking a look at 7 more titles from the Sega Ages series for Saturn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcuvx8sJ0Mc
I meant to write something a while back but I forgot. I watched episodes 4, 5, and 6 and thought they were really good! I had forgotten how much I loved Retro Core. Keep up the good work, man. Also, I didn't realize those interactive anime games had English language modes. I may have to pick those up at some point.
The TimeGal & Ninja Hayate pack is pretty hard to come by but you shouldn't have any trouble finding the Thunder Storm and Road Blaster pack.
The Mega CD (JPN version at least) has a better opening theme but apart from that the Saturn is better. Cleaner animation, more cut scenes, faster access and smoother frame rates.
After Burner is the epitome of awesomeness. Every system made since 1987 should, no excuses, have a version of After Burner on it. I also wish SEGA would do the same for Galaxy Force that they did for After Burner (Climax). And while we're at it, I wish they would also bring Planet Harriers along somehow. Solid show, as always, sir.
I would love a new Galaxy Force, but it'll never happen because nobody knows what Galaxy Force is. GFII is awesome, and probably the most underrated Sega Super Scaler game...except maybe Power Drift.
I think Galaxy Force II is by far the most impressive with Power Drift following closely behind. By the way, there is one more Sega Ages title to cover which will be coming in volume 8
I've been very busy this month so many things are falling behind. I will be doing the page for Retro Core 7 this afternoon and will upload it tonight when I get home. Good news is that Rerto Core 8 is made and ready for upload but I think I'll wait until Friday before uploading it to give a weeks gap.
Volume 8 out now on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpWvZW17U_o and a high quality version is available over at the official Retro Core site - http://www.segagagadomain.com/RetroCorepage-main.htm Yakumo
So... Phantasy Star 3 made me dizzy. I now understand why it was so maligned. Phantasy Star 4 looks like something I would have LOVED back in the day, if I'd had a Mega Drive instead of playing FF6 on the SNES. I just love Sci-Fi RPG stuff. Great stuff, man.
Well, Final Fantasy 6 was the better game IMO, I loved Final Fantasy 6 but Phantasy Star 4 was also a very good RPG.
On that note, does anyone know if the MegaDrive version of the original Phantasy Star supported FM capabilities? As far as I'm aware, the Megadrive version was literally the Master System version on a Megadrive cartridge, which might also make the game incompatible with later versions of the console.
