That would work! The only show that had pixilated anime boobs as the thumbnail is also the one with the most views. The sad part is with my account I can't upload personal thumbnails, only select from the 3 YouTube randomly generates.

I really need to find away of promoting the show but I would rather not attract the dickheads of the internet because then I'll have to disable comments or check them all the time banning the nobs. As for how I look, well at the moment I'm a fat bastard again after really letting myself go over the winter so I'm back on the jogging come next week now that the weather is warming up.

Yakumo, I'm happy to post your episodes on my blog as they get released, not that I'm getting a massive amount of hits but it's steady since I've done that Sturmwind review...

 

I thought Yakumo looked kinda like a younger Stephen Fry.
Also, I wish the Retro Core episodes were in playlists by volume, the current system is kind of a pain to browse through.

 

One one hand, if Yakumo would start spouting random obscenities and add fancy 3D rendered intros and stuff to his videos, I'm sure many more people would watch them! On the other hand, that would be fucking horrible.

If I had the means to promote Retro Core somewhere with high traffic and such, I'd go ahead and do it at every opportunity, but I can only tell people about it and hope they watch an episode sometime... Just know that there's people who love the work you're doing, Yakumo, even if you'd only make an episode every 6 months or whatever. Not that you don't know that already...

I guess I'm just trying to thank you for the countless hours of quality videos since the 1 to 1:30h episodes all the way back in series 1

I'll see if I can sort out a playlist order for my YouTube channel. It is a pain the way it just adds different videos that I upload in to the same order as the Retro Cores.

One of the few gaming shows that isn't run by idiots or is completely stupid and is popular and one of the few that is anywhere near the quality of RC is Happy Console Gamer.

Maybe they are a good example to follow. But then again, I don't know. As we all know , for some reason having quality isn't enough to attract people. And I don't know why.

I think one of the things that got me into that show were the positive and personal experiences within a certain theme of the episode. And there was always something interesting in the background when game footage wasn't showing.(Such as part of his game collection)

 

I actually watch one episode of Happy Console gamer which lead me to buy Bullet Witch. I actually liked the game after the first 2 levels.

 

Maybe it's just that these days the only games people play anymore are Angry Birds and Call of Duty! All the people I know at uni won't like a game released last year because it's "old", let alone games from over a decade ago.

So you might not be getting millions of views but at least you know you're getting the views from proper gaming enthusiasts!

 

True. but there's got to be more people out there who know what games really are. I know this 18 year old who thinks all my games are "gay". What a tit. so I take a look at his 360 games and guess what. Every bloody game is a stupid FPS war game and Halo. Yeah, the modern young person hasn't got a fucking clue when it comes to gaming. A gamer willplay many types not just one type stuck in one mode, Kill, kill, kill. I'm a hardman war hero!

 

Back in college I knew a guy who did a computer game design course, and they got the students to play Super Mario Bros. and other old games to analyse the gameplay or something, and he quit half way through the first year with the reason "if they are gonna make us play games then they should let us play something good." and that the lessons were "depressing". It took a lot of self control to not back hand him for his stupidity haha

 

yep, a typical dumb arse. At least my son is being brought up playing retro and modern games. He likes them all. To him there is no difference.

 

I agree with what you said, except for the Halo dissing. Anyway, another one I like on Youtube is the guy who does Lazy Game Reviews. Maybe it's just because he reviews obscure PC games and those are always interesting, but I think he makes good points in his reviews, doesn't feign anger and I like his voice.

 

Oh, I wasn't dissing Halo. Just saying that he only plays stupid war games and Halo. I actually own Halo 4 myself and enjoyed it very much.

 

Yeah, I've been playing Halo 4 a lot lately, but I see your point about there being a lot of idiots playing it since it's a popular FPS.

 

Reminds me of my 7 years old brother - he's played Wii before and IIRC at least watched me play X360, they've got a PS2 from me for Christmas, but he's also played and liked the SNES, has his own GBC (really likes Super Mario Bros. DX on it!), etc.

Not to mention, I had brought along a few of my own PS2 games over Christmas, and what he played the most wasn't even a PS2 game as such... it was Sonic R in Sonic Gems Collection!

 

Happy to start plugging it more often over on my blog as well Yakumo - traffic isn't too heavy and I'm easing back on how often I'm blogging these days, but happy to give RC a plug wherever I can. It's an awesome series and I picked up a stack of games when I was in Japan last year that I grabbed based on your series (all of them!).
