For pulling out their pocket book? This is a great move indeed, but they're just buying up "hardcore" classics rather than making new ones.

Also Treasure have mentioned in an Edge magazine interview some time back that they will not rerelease certain titles because they don't want to upset collectors. I don't remember the issue now, but I recall reading comments to that effect.

if what Taucias is saying holds true, then Radiant Silvergun is not to be seen on XBL :(

No wonder why: collections are a big topic among japanese gamers, and theres lots of them, so much that several companies (like SNK with the AES and its games) survived thanks to these individuals will to pay up large sums for games most people in the rest of the world would hardly care at all.

Dunno, chankast showed that DC emulation is pretty close, but it all depends on what is easier: to recode each game individually or to code a emulator that can play all of them.

A DC emulator would also open the gates for more DC games like SA1&2, JSR, Illbleed, Headhunter, VirtualON-OT, Crazy Taxi 1&2, Daytona 2001, Sega Rally 2, etc... for XBLA.

    I wouldnt mind:lol:

Treasure has been quite happy for several years now to rest on its laurels and continue receiving more praise than it will ever be worth, so you're absolutely right for using the "elitist" tag. As for the company's recent sequels/updates/remakes policy u-turn, this only further goes to show how far the Treasure of today has strayed from the once revolutionary - though fortunately still talented - mould that saw it break away from Konami back in the day (hey, that unintentionally rhymes!)...

Obviously you're not a Treasure fan. Don't forget they are a company. Development costs don't allow them to be as experimental or as free with game design as they used to be. Take a risk now and it could be your last in the industry.

This is partly why Japan is seeing the downfall of gaming IMO.

*cough*Gunstar Heroes *cough* Bangai-O *cough* and now *cough* Ikaruga *cough*
I'm fairly certain they won't touch Radiant Silvergun, though.

    Treasure hates money?

they'll make a ton reissuing Radient Silvergun. I think it's just because it's a Saturn title that's why it can't be ported.

The Saturn is like some sort of Development rubicks cube from what I heard about it.

But the port would be from the ST-V hardware, not the Saturn itself.

But Taucias is right, Treasure said they about decided not to port some of their games because they "respect" their collector fanbase. So I imagine the games they have the rights to that have a very high value (Radiant Silvergun) won't be seeing ports.

Honestly I think that outside of the game's fanbase most people wouldn't be interested in these shooters, so if theres a porting to XBLA it will no justify the "betrayal" of the fanbase, and Treasure knows that...

Well, that's really just a Saturn that executes code from ROM instead of CD. And should they ever re-release it, they ought to include the Saturn Mode at the very least!

well respecting collectors is one aspect. but releasing a game in a non-tangible medium is great and doesn't affect collectors as much, since you can rarely "re-sale" your XBL downloads

A ton? Doubtful. XBLive sale prices are low and aside from hardcore games, who is going to download the game? I think it would have a very limited audience, or they'd b e releasing Shumps all the time in the USA. It's a niche market.

The only reason MS are putting these games out on their system is for positive PR in the gaming press after the redring fiasco. To our benefit ofc, but it's not because they're going to make a huge amount of money from it.
