    -=FamilyGuy=-: what's the difference between a CDDA's and a non-CDDA's ip.bin?

The ip.bin contain the basic track layout (no files references) of the gd-rom and it can be ONE big data track, or one data, some audios, and another data.

So I meant that the game he tried to rip, according to TOC in the ip.bin, don't got any CDDA tracks.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enought.

I found an odd thing, All the retails track lists for track 3 (non CDDA) are:

    45150 LBA start ~ 504150 sectors

Is this the standard max point? Ive tried 5 discs now, all the same! If thats the case I dont think we need to do a trap disc at all for non CDDA, as it gets all the data apparently. It also looks like I did infact get all the data off the non CDDA proto I have. Comparing it to the retail rip, some of the files that are 0 bytes are also 0 on retail. :)

There's apps to read the TOC from the ip.bin.

They are public, so I uploaded them for you : http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=KI1NZL5W

GDINFO (BY unknown, Bat file by me) :
Run the gdinfo.bat file in the same folder as the ip.bin you want to get info from and gdinfo.exe. It'll output the infos as a text files, and on the window.

Usefull to have a text file with TOC and infos.

    GDLISTER (BY Yursoft) :
Open and select a IP.BIN to get the track layout, no possibilities to save any text file.

    Have fun !

Not that I want to prove you wrong, but wouldn't this be more like a "test" dc ...

It looks like a hybrid between a NEC ARC1A PowerVR PWH-6032 and a retail DC ...

I don't know if most of you know it, but the method used by DC release groups wasn't the serial cable method, nor the network adapter method.
It was done via DDH a device built by Skywalker, from Hitmen.

Officially, it was only for development purpose, but here is the first ripped GD-ROM ;)
Next version was supposed to use the PC-CommLink ISA card (used for the Action replay, Saturn & PS version), but I don't have further informations about it...

Was it really used for game ripping? I remember the DDH, but I never read anything but rumors about it being used by the warez groups...

Homebrew and piracy are tied together.
"Officially", DDH was for homebrew only. But it never saw a public release : reason are obvious, it would easily allow to dump GD-ROM.
And for a semi-proof, just look at the second link on my post : Soulcalibur was one of the first released rip.

The swap trick worked well on cdda games but not on data-only games (god only know why) and Dot50Cal is waiting for a video capture card to be shipped to him to make the tutorial.
On my side my psu EXPLODED and I ordered a better one so I might use my computer in some days, i'm now on a school computer ...

    Thank you !

LoL, no wonder I haven't heard from you in a while. :p

Have you guys tried this other method in BBA dumping? I'd like to know if it works on GD-R discs:

    (httpd-ack) *RAW*

Actually reading that, it probably wont. The app still requires you to find the tracks, GDROM's dont list the tracks in the same position as retails. Doubt it would work.

Christ Almighty, what did you buy? Shouldn't a Pinnacle 700-USB do the trick for camcorder & Dreamcast video capturing? ;)
