    That could be it, the salmon I get doesn't look like a fish at all. Quite processed for raw fish I'd imagine!

    Mojarra (usually Tilapia) is low in heavy metals - I've never seen it here though - in the down under!

    Sorry guys, I'm afraid catfish is off the menu as a daily food! "Limit to one serve (150g) per week – orange roughy (deep sea perch) or catfish, with no other fish eaten that week."

    Codfish, while low in mercury, doesn't explain the wallhackers shooting me dead. Also have not seen cod on shelves either.

    Salmon is great if it's fresh.
    I've had "Salmon" that wasn't so fresh and it was revolting, but if you catch it and grill it up in the same day, It's delicious.
    Or bake it with Onion and Lemon, still comes out great.

    I had a smoked salmon sandwich today at Brueggers Bagels, a chain in the US. It had smoked salmon, onion, tomato, capers and cream cheese on an everything bagel. It was pretty darn good.

    I'm scared to think how long the salmon here sits in the little plastic box... it's still tasty though.

    And to the COD guy, I did see some cod a the fresh fish market but I had quite a hike home so I had to leave it. One day! ;)

    Yeah I live in Washington State and the salmon here.... if you go to the right markets, the salmon was caught that day. It's absolutely the most delicious fish, tons of flavor. Even local grocery stores (Safeways, Walmarts, Etc.) have their salmon caught within the last 4-5 days.

    I hear the Salmon is better in Alaska, but I've had it. I think it's just that typically alaskan salmon is always caught the same day it's cooked.

    I had it in a can once on a dare, nobody eats canned Salmon here. Everybody eats it fresh around here (least everybody I know).

    Interestingly canned salmon has more calcium because they dissolve the bones a little bit. That said, it ain't worth it just for that - I completely agree that fresher is better!

    Canned Salmon might taste good if you like bad salmon :D

    I grew up my entire life only eating Fresh.

    I guess salmon is salmon still, no point having internal conflicts over canned vs fresh! :)

    bbq it with hawaian or teriyaki glaze. or serve with honey also. i like it with rice and vegetables or yams

    I've got to say it is pretty bland (at least the prepackaged stuff here) with no lemon on it! Bought two lemons today to feed to the salmons later on this evening :)
