Games that get reworked for other systems i find are never as good as there original. Maybe it was better on the saturn. Hopefully it will someday come out and be released

Fighting Force and Ninja were both originally meant to be Saturn games, though neither ended up on that console, instead being finished only as PlayStation titles. However, there's no reason to suggest the early prototype of Fighting Force was that different to what ended up being released - you only have to look at the near-complete build, even if it is only two levels in "rolling" form, that did surface on a demo disc to see this. As for Ninja, didn't Core give this a slight graphical upgrade to take advantage of the Sony console's extra power? There's no way the Saturn would have been able to handle all those transparency effects, unless Core either planned to (ab)use the same old dithering method seen in so many ports or maybe they had found out how to exploit software translucency as seen in a few rare examples.

As today's scans are rather large, there's thumbnails for them.

I have the US ad of that games I was pretty sure it was released for the Saturn.

About Rocket Boy it was a 32x/Sega CD game apparently, I may be wrong.

It was also planned for Saturn afaik (well that's what the article states.
Anyway, the Rocket Boy article was at little tough to scan without doing things to a magazine I rather wouldn't so here's a Gender Wars one from Sega Power instead.

Hello little boy, shall we patronise you and pretend you're a ten year old with the mental abilities of a potato? That sort of sums up Sega power...

A lot of these games do seem to be pish and I can see why the bean counters would have cancelled them, the other half were too much into the life of the Saturn when it was deader then a 3dodo everywhere apart from Japan.

The main reason because i ask about Sega Power is because i NEVER had any chance to read any of its numbers back in the day. But

Well seems interesting that Sega Power,,, huh, i maybe will try to get some numbers and do vintage reading..cause back in the day i didn't have access to that magazine.

About the Saturn protos posted here, well... most of them aren't what we can say the best games in the world...but...some of them seem REALLY REALLY nice..like NINJA (seems to have a really good 3D engine!!!) , FIGHTING FORCE (Saturn version in fact was more good) ... etc...

Sega got a "only 5 star quality" policy, and that was a bad movement,, look at PSX, their thousand games policy, ok, maybe only 30% were really good games, but hey, in the eyes of people, that was a thousand games catalogue in front of Saturn and N64 little catalogues...

Marketing in the end... but damn! Some of the best of Saturn was unreleased...

tomb raider 2, ninja, fighting force, bio hazard 2, shenmue, sonic the fighters, sonic x-treme, alien resurrection, virtua fighter 3, plus more projects from Am2 and other companies...

A lot of these games seem to make use of the modem this kind of explains why there are so few and what happened to the others in development

Could somebody please upload scans of the Bad Mojo preview in one of the earlier issues of SSM? I seem to remember this game being planned for the Saturn, and to be honest I'm still not sure (all these years later) if it was ever released for any platform - never mind my favourite Sega console... though I'm fairly sure it was a port of an existing PC title!

Don't have the earlier SSM issues but I'm pretty sure (in the end) it was PC only.
