Ikari said not too long ago that he's finishing up with studying the architecture and will start work on it in the coming weeks. I believe Ryan mentioned(correct me if I'm wrong) that he had to put them on top as it would be easier to do. He had to re-direct the LED's to work from the top of the device rather than the side like Ikari had it.
Can anyone tell me if after FX chip support is implented we can play Star fox 2? And if he has plans to emulate the SA-1 chip? Since it has been included in some decent/important games .. such as Kirby
The way Ikari put it(since Star Fox 2 uses the Super FX2 chip), once implemented, all Super FX games should work. As for SA-1, as important and awesome as it may be, he still hasn't made a final decision about it. It's hard to program and he's not sure if he can do it.
Okay just so i'd know which games i should keep Since i have all games original that have special chips in them. But i'll like to know if he's going to tackle that chip since mario RPG is also a classic
I wouldn't recommend getting rid of a collection after purchasing a flash cart. There is value to them that is entirely separate from the archive of dumped games. I'm not going to get rid of any of mine. It would be a good idea to implement SA-1 for preservation sake. I would imagine that a lot of those titles (mainly in Japan) are scarce. Hopefully FX and SA-1 get implemented. FX games are a lot easier to acquire. I know there's an argument about wanting to play Star Fox 2 but that is just one game. Look at the long list of NTSC/J SA-1 games in comparison. It is many. Imo I would sacrifice FX over SA-1 since the FX carts still are very easy to obtain. However it has been a highly sought after feature to have an FX chip in a SNES backup device since the mid 1990s so there is that too.
I agree amptor, that getting rid of games to then pirate them on a flash cart is messed up. About SA-1, it is not a one or the other thing, Ikari has been working on the Super FX which is probably a bit easier to implement than the SA-1. Maybe he'll implement the SA-1 but that may be very difficult to ever get perfect. However I doubt that the SA-1 games are at all "scarce". These titles are all likely readily available to someone that wants them. None that I know of demand that much money.
Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius and Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension probably command $80+ used which most would consider to be expensive. There's a bunch of others and some probably become a bit obscure. Of course NTSC/U carts are easy to find. The most expensive probably would be about 50 bucks if that. It probably depends on how popular the game is. Since Super FX is so far in development, then it definitely has the green light. I think it is great to see a device that can finally play these. I read Ikari's blogs and came to find out that the implementation of FX is all software so it runs really fast. He'll be dividing the speed in some programming code to get the games to run at the proper speed and this will allow him to very easily implement an "overclocking" (which actually will be downclocking because at 1:1 speed it is already running at 96mhz opposed to the original 21mhz the FX games ran at which is quite interesting) So for people wanting 42mhz, all he'll have to do is downclock it to that. I guess that isn't going to be so difficult for him to do. Since we have already seen FX games running on this device, I would assume that means that he is just fixing major or minor bugs in the program so that the games will run properly. As far as I understand, since the FX code isn't available yet for the sd2snes, that means he probably wants to put out a finished program so that people won't go around wondering what's wrong with their games. This is a fair enough approach. I mean, for what we are getting who can complain.
I didn't know he had shown Super FX working on SD2SNES at all yet. By the way about Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius and DBZ Hyper Dimension, PLEASE tell me who will pay that much? I was able to find DBZ for 19$ and Parodius for 24$ within 30 seconds of searching. And these were not auctions. And it was not on FLEAbay either.
I was wondering if this would be doable or not and it actually something I hope Ikari does implement.
Amazon is the only place I see coming close to that but jikkyo parodius is at 50 bucks. I stand corrected but there's more games than just these two, they were just examples of games that cost a lot in the past. I dunno what drove the value down.
It would be amusing to see Star Fox running with a Super FX at 96mhz. It's already too fast at 21mhz, though I imagine before getting to 96mhz the maximum frame rate would probably be achieved. But who knows.
My spanish pal vision I colleted the all released fx games recently to complement the super everdrive.I buy only the cartrige. starwing easy 10e doom easy 10e stunt race fx I not need buy it,i buy it in the 90 decade ,but probably easy. super mario world 2.easy 18e.(outside ebay) dirt racer,is not easy, but not imposible. Is rare see it in ebay. 14e.Normally france or u.k sellers. winter gold is rare find it,probably in german sellers, but i buy it outside ebay in spanish forum 11e. vortex, easy find it,11e. dirt trax fx.This is very very rare in ebay or outside ebay (the pal version). Finally i have lucky, and i find it in retrogamerfreak. 6e the game+ 7e to send it to spain from netherlands. So belive me the emulation of fx in sd2nes is necesary. Probably in the future i buy the new cartridge, but when it supports sa-1.
Damn, Gundam GX is only $14 on ebay now LOL I remember that game used to be expensive because it was a rare find. I picked up a copy just to complete my DSP set. Yeah I know it is a Strat/J and I don't know Japanese so I can't play it but at least I can say that I can play all the DSP games now though the sd2snes can as well. I'm still curious which site MottZilla found deals on the other games was. I want to find the SA-1 chip SD F-1 racing game. It looks pretty good from the reviews I was reading last night.
Good! Would you mind telling us your Order Date or Invoice ID? Others might be able to guess when theirs is due to be shipped But hey, you decide, if you want to keep that info private, i think most will understand. Cheers!
