EDIT: The article was written by Aaron Nanto though -- a pretty upstanding name, although I didn't think he did much in the realm of games outside of the PC-FX.

 

I seriously doubt that this "shocking announcement" will actually be a new piece of console hardware, as Sega has already revealed updates to most of its best-known franchises for other next-gen systems, including the Lindbergh arcade board. After previously disappointing with the Maxtrix Online debacle, Sega now seems to be ready to unleash its strongest line-up yet, but what for? Could this once-legendary company be exiting the software market? Maybe those hardware rumours are finally going to come true, though I feel they will pursue something pointless like the Pachinko craze as opposed to a new console...

It could be some sort of new toy/gadget. Not a console, but some _sort_ of hardware. Or maybe it could be a new logo (I hope not, Konami's new logo looks like a Soy Sauce trademark) - or something to do with mobile phones. Or maybe the fact that they might support one of the three new consoles exclusively. Or.... who knows.

Sega's Shocking Announcements, lately, only shock you when you realise how unnecessarily lame they tend to be. Okay, just that last one, but that's 100% of the cases so far.

 

I'm sure looking forward to this Sunday !!! I can't wait !! I'll see if I can get to an internet cafe with SD card suport (shouldn't be hard) and post anything really cool I find here at ASSEMbler.

I was discussing just last night that it would be awesome if Sega Sammy released a console, but I know better than to get my hopes up.
