If you have a supplier of saturn s-video cables for £9, you could double your investment selling them for $30 each to americans on ebay.

You were in the thread and were given a link to them a few months ago.

omp, seem sold out at the moment (but werent last I checked) - http://www.gamechoice.com.hk/navigateProduct.asp?product_id=417

Consolegoods also have RGB ones for a similar price.

Right now on ebay I see some in the UK for £15 (which once you consider ebay/paypal mark ups, £9 isnt unrealistic elsewhere anyway).

Seems like wasted time adding in svideo and such directly into the console when leads are cheap, you would still need to buy parts (ports) and the time to do it..

Well it'd be understandable these are cheaper in the UK. Less demand with easily used SCART.

There currently is a lot of like 7 new cables for a decent price. :p

Anyway i totally agree with bad_ad84 about s-video modding a Saturn being a total waste of time when the cables are available and not that actually expensive.
Heck, even for 30$, it still seems preferable to buy a cable than to hack apart your Saturn and spend one hour doing a mod that will still likely cost you 5-10$ in parts and will result in more cable clutter than necessary at the back of your shelves.

i bought myself an official sega saturn rgb cable for about 15£ shipped. it has perfect sound and audio.

also my saturn is modchipped and has an action replay 4-in-1. i had no problem. the ar menu always comes when i turn on the console and i choose start the game without cheats, no need to restart etc. only exception i got so far is panzer dragoon saga which needs a certain cheat code to work with a cartridge plugged.

I have a clone 4-in-1 card and has no issues with my modded V-Saturn and Modded PAL Saturn. Maybe the cart is bad or even so the slot in the Saturn. I'd clean both.

Maybe the Saturn just doesn't like the games you are feeding it, and that's why it's hissing.... I'll show myself out.

But what really causes a Sega Saturn to suddenly shut off in the middle of game play? I played an RPG for an hour, and it suddenly shuts off like that. It still works, but what could cause such a thing?

Yet the listing says "cables", the plural form. Implying its to buy more than one. But heh, if he truly sold them 50$ each he made some good money right there.

Twice today, my Saturn shorted out, shutdown right in the middle of gameplay. What can cause this, or do I have to replace some parts in the PSU. I would buy a new Power supply, but 64pin ones are hard enough to find, since Saturns cost at least $70 in the city.

After an hour? Though I wonder if the modchip can also cause this?

check your ribbon cables are not slightly stripped and shorting out on the shielding. also check that the mod chip is properly insulated eg not shorting on anything and same with the power / ground connections to the chip and system.

all i can think of unless there's some dodgy caps or resistors lurking around.
