Sega Saturn s-video adaptor mod?

I'd probably purchase a few myself.

But Bad_Ad84 is right, never underestimate what someone will do when they overestimate their skill level.

 

Yeah take it from me about the amount of time mistakes can waste.

 

^ Amen bro. I once spent 30 minutes trying to figure out why my Sega wouldn't turn on. Finally found that in my "infinite soldering wisdom" (LOL) I somehow disconnected one side of the power jack...

 

Not common. At least here in Brazil. And a Sony PVM costs A LOT here
We've got s-video on some tvs, but nowadays it's hard to find one with s-video.

 

s-video wasn't the quality peak here. We had component SDTVs for a bit.

 

I've decided not to get the adaptor mod. There are new Saturn s-video cables on ebay now going for $19.50 shipped. That's not too bad considering the alternatives. So you guys should probably snag em up while you can and before they get even more expensive.

 

I used to stock Saturn s-video leads and they were dirt cheap. Probably still have a few somewhere.

Indeed. I'm sure I've said it on here before, too! It's just one of those things - custom connector, supplies dry up, greedy sellers start cashing in on their stock they couldn't shift at the original price! lol

Incidentally, Barry lists official ones as "back in stock soon" at $19. Personally, I wouldn't pay double for a Sega cable, and I don't know whether he'll be able to source them, anyway.

 

the cables are now very difficult to find and expensive as hell. I'm in the market for one and the only ones i can find on ebay would exceed the cost of the console.

Wasn't the official cable exclusive to Japan?
But I don't have access to a US parts mail order catalog or anything to check.

But what is the point of such a mod? I use a very high quality S-Video cable with My Saturn.
