Its pretty much to the point where I couldn't give two shits about owning it at this point of time. I bought it just for MGS4, and that has been delayed until god knows when next year. Personally, I would rather just sell the 20 GB model I have for $300 and buy a 60 GB model later on when there is something I can care about. I don't see anything good coming out within the next 6 months, and I should have plenty of money by the time MGS4 is about to come out. So, should I do it?
go for it! what do you want to hear? some ps3 fanboy telling you its unholy to sell a ps3? at the moment its a piece of expensive shyt without worthy titles that justify the pricetag so just sell it and buy it at a later stage (its what I would of done too)
Eh it has plenty of good titles (Sure, no mass effect or halo 3, but Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Unreal Tourney 3 hopefully), and no real risk of crapping out, I dont see why youd bother to sell it.
Ratchet and Clank was about the only one I would even look at picking up. Uncharted looks like a prettier version of Tomb Raider with horrible aiming, and UT3 runs fine on my PC and will be on the 360 soon enough.
Well write down a list of games you like, see what console suits you better and go from there. If you bought a console for a game that isn't out, then you only have yourself to blame and if there aren't any games you want to buy then that's your problem. As basil fawlty would say 'We don't want no riff raff here'. I on the other hand love my PS3 and love Wangan Midnight and GTHD.
MGS4 FFXIII Those are the only two at the moment, and both are a long ways away. I love my 360 and Wii, but my PS3 has got no love. PM sent.
Hold out for uncharted (a demo is out next week). Actualy the PSN is getting some really nice mini games here and there. Game republic just anounced their new action shooter title for it. http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/darkmist/ Developed by Game Republic - Action Shooting game - 800yen - 447meg - 1 player - 8th Nov 2007 - You play as the warrior of light, Althemis, shooting down the forces of darkness
Guys guys.. Cash flow is of the essence. having a sitting asset used for nothing is no good. He might be interested in more important purchases with the money gained from the proceeds of a possible transaction, and that makes more business sense than just keeping it around - especially at the price those things cost, he could buy a 360 or a Wii, or even some dev materials
This is true, but what if he clasifys the PS3 as a long term asset rather than a short term asset? Like you said earlier he could wait for the value to go up when the PS3 with PS2 hardware become harder to get. If it was a long term asset it wouldn't be held against him right now, it'd be just like an investment.
a long term asset, if you will, must be an asset that: a) i.the business (in this case, his gaming affairs) cannot work without if sold; or ii. the business is somehow lacking/hindered b) generates revenue (the currency is fun) as part of the framework of the business Since none of these criteria are met, this is not a long term asset.
As far as I am concerned, the PS3 is a sitting asset that currently has no value to me whatsoever. I own the 360 and Wii, and both have been providing me with games ever 3 months. PS3? I bought Resistance when I bought it back in February, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma when it came out, but that is about it. Blu-Ray means nothing to me, and the features it does have I can do on my PC connected to my TV. Hell, I pretty much bought it for MGS4, and that was delayed a good while. Not to mention I will barely have time as it is come January when I start to go to school full time. Its to the point where I have to budget my games per month, and I might not even have enough to get both Mass Effect and Super Mario Galaxy, so I am going to have to be far more picky with my games.
That alone says you should sell it. And considering the rate at which Sony keeps cutting the price, I imagine if you sold it now you'd be able to snag a 60GB in a store close to when MGS4 comes out for cheaper than what you sold the 20GB for now.
Ah yes, equipment is an asset. So it's not a long term asset. Could it possibly be a long term investment? Except I don't think he went into the purchase thinking he was making an investment that would make him some money later on... EDIT: I wouldn't buy a console that would EVENTUALLY be fun to play a year or two later, I'd just wait.
A trolling topic, if ever I heard one. If you're asking the question then the answer is presumably yes.
Why would this be a trolling topic? I'm asking people's opinions on the matter so I can decide if I am going to sell it or not. I'm still not even sure if I am going to sell it yet or not.
