Today a DEMO Version of Silent Hill - Origins for PSP was released on P2P Network. Some leaked Version i guess...no source or more info known. Release date is set for end of october/beginning november I can only say - what a great game!!
Sounds neat. Thanks for the heads up! I personally cant wait for this game! What a great time to have a broken PSP screen! :crying:
Hahahaha, just what I was about to say! I am guessing you have a 512Mb Memory Stick like me then? I sold my 2Gig when my PSP screen broke... Rawr. :crying:
I just checked out the file; some details: version: 0.01 region: europe So a pretty early code aswell!
yep thats what i noticed too...maybe most of it is still uncompressed or whatever...nevertheless it does look great!!
Is it a demo or is it labled [promo]. There was a [promo] leak of Wipeout. As well a few "promo" that happen to be the full game.
.CSO, eh? I'm not too familiar with PSP types, but do I need anything special for it, or can I just put it on a memory stick?
CSO is just like ISO. So yes you can if you have a newer custom FW. Thing is im not sure what FW version is required for this game. almost 700megs is a bit much for just a demo.
I see...Hmm, I may swing by best buy or someplace later today and pick up a new memory stick and try it out.
Man the SH fan/bastard in me wants to download it. The up tight prick in me tells me I deserve a kick in the balls for wanting to download it.
@jason: CSO is just a compressed ISO...saves space but some games will lag @subbie: it's labeled demo and its defnetly not the whole game since i played to the end of it more than once @all: let alone those small ingame videos are 183MB alltogether...these are very early and uncompressed videos, thats my guess
you going to record any video of you playing? -- edit -- Looks like someone already has http://youtube.com/watch?v=FHWlY-Uu4bQ DAMN YOU PIRATES. Your making me want to pirate this
There are some funny things about this game... Video seems to possibly be interlaced and at a higher resolution than the PSP supports (640x480 TV output possible on PSP SLIM, maybe?) (Reason I belive this is because of how ancient screen grabbing tools gives a rather interesting output/result) Also, the reason this thing to be as huge as it is is because the UMD isn't "cleaned". It contains the entire game's soundtrack (the vocal tracks are sweet) and the entire game's FMV set (Not touching those, spoiler spoiler, though... there is one filename there that pleases me, as it was deeply missed in SH4. Filenames for the Music also contains spoilers as for what locations you'll be seeing in the game, I think) The demo has some odd random features, like if you idle too long, it'll reset to the menu, and it supports saving, oddly enough. Even though the demo isn't really at the very beginning of the game and supports no loading of savegame data. The tips section suffers from button placement issues that overlaps text (seems to be an issue created by the odd resolution, so IF the background + text would be displayed at something like 640x480, the foreground buttons would appear correctly without overlapping the text) I must say I'm rather pleased with the demo. I'm actually looking forward to this game now (And the official release of the OST) Guess in the end, this demo was not meant for public use + probably meant for some tradeshow/gameshow (Leipzig?). NOTE: If anyone has access to a PSP TEST system, I would be interested in hearing how it displays on the VGA out if you burn the image to a DVD and load it (Just open the CSO in UMDGEN and save it as a uncompressed .ISO and burn it with some DVD application, should do the trick)
Picked up a 1 GB memory stick. Have about 2 hours left on it. I'll do a write up on it when it is done. People that have already downloaded it say it is leagues better then Silent Hill 4, which is a good sign. It does sound like a tradeshow demo, due to the game resetting to the title screen if idle. Not to mention the extra files, which is common for a E3 or trade show demo. The higher resolution does sound like a Slim PSP option, since the game is launching around the same time as the Slim is, and would look like shit on a TV if it didn't have higher resolution (Hint that other PSP games may support that option?). May have also been a stage demo, where the developer or someone plays it on a big screen TV.
