Saw it last night, not bad could have been better, most of the humour seemed to be aimed towards the hardcore fans.

I thought it was pretty average. I didn't think they'd be able to get a decent plot for 90 minutes but it held up pretty well. I just could have used a few more laughs....

Thinking about it, I really wish they would of gone with there orignal idea when they made the kamp krusty episode and did that as a movie instead.

Sure not all the characters would have been included, but at least the writing would have been top notch for that period of the show.

it was long and boring, the argument really sux, its just an extended episode made with a mix of lot of jokes, its a sad "movie" if you think about that, but it could be a regular episode ...

    Cheers

They had enough trouble filling 22 Minutes.

It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but it was better than most recent episodes. Actually, the first half of the movie is way better than most recent episodes, the second half is almost as weak as the series has been for the last 4 or 5 years. I was surprised at how the serious moments had a great performance by the cast, better than what they do on the show regularly.

Supousedly the reason they waited so long to do the movie was because they were hoping to cancel the series and instead do a series of movies, an idea I still like. But as Matt Groening said, they couldn't do that since ratings remain so high on TV. I think the writers did their best to make the show fail and it still continues to do well. Good for Fox or whatever.

One bit that did suprise me is that last year they showed a work in progress scene from the movie at Comicon, and it was very funny. In the finished film, the scene is longer AND less funny. (For those who have seen the film, it's the part with Homer and the dogs. The comicon clip is probably on youtube)

I do want a sequel, tough. Just get Brad Bird and Conan 'O Brian on it.

The Simpsons was at it's funniest when Conan was a writer.

I really enjoyed watching the movie; it was not the best Simpsons ever.. But it did keep me hooked from the beginning to the end.

I sometimes wonder if people just say that the new ones are bad compared to the old just because others do. Really, the old ones arent that great, most people just seem to remember them that way, in the same way the hold a certain fondess of some games that really arent that good, but were some of the first they played.

Saw it last Saturday, I really wasn't expecting so much, so it was great in my opinion. They also knew how to stop the (really few) boring scenes with some of the most funny scenes ;D

    To be continued...

Kind of a reflection of what TV Simpsons has become, IMO.

Hmmm I saw it some days ago. And it was an ok movie, but three or four of the early episodes would have been better. And they should have made the movie, when the tv series was at its highest peak. Which it isn´t now adays anyway. Just like they did with the Southpark movie, which was smashing.

whatched the film a few days ago and must admit i enjoyed watching it and it was entertaining but the thing i didn't like was all the alaska bits they just didn't seem to fit well with the rest of the film although some bits were funny

i used to love the simpsons show and liked the newer stuff but not been able to watch it in a while due to Sky1 not being on cable anymore although i still think i would like the more recent episodes

I watched 2 weeks ago, I must say, its a GOOD movie. For a fan of the show I don't think you'd be disapointed. The story line was not great. They should have just used scorpio instead of this guy, I think it was the same voice... All they need to do with the show is fire the writers and hire all new writers. The show's story lines and jokes are NOT funny anymore, but just like before, things can change. Why cancel a good show.

The simpsons is the only show I can watch in reruns over and over again. Family Guy's jokes are all about whats in the news, so they get old fast. Futurama was good, but you can't watch them repeatedly either.

    my 2 cents.
    Jeff.

Saw it a while ago, didnt have time to comment here so:

First the early simpsons episodes were complete crap, both in script and art quality. It was the episodes between 94 and 96-97 that were both funny and original, but the first two seasons suck much more than say the last two, or the ones between 99 and 2000, which BTW where abysmal.

The movie was actually good, with the classic quick jokes from the golden age but it had some very stupid scenes, like the ones with lisa and the irish kid.

The best part: when marge says "you can take spider pig with you" then hommer says "hes not spider pig anymore: now is harry plopper"

it was amusing, but really just 3 episodes slapped together, i really think the simpsons is coming to the end of its life, have high hopes for the new game though,to be honest i much prefer the newer shows like family guy and american dad

I saw it yesterday and man am i glad i didn't have to pay to see that, so overhyped. It's just 3 episodes pulled together, most of the jokes wheren't that funny and felt like they came from older seasons of the simpsons.
