I'm sure it won't be the highest but running my own site, I more than understand server/hosting costs and everything else. Donation made. Keep on being awesome.
As in 2011 my donation has been sent. See if I'm lucky and this time I appear in the list of contributors; D Keep running this site for many years!!
Made a small donation. I am not a Fortune 500 company or work for them, I don't care if the forum forces everyone to use Comic San, it qon't bother me :triumphant:
I've had a long hard think about it and I retract my defamatory remarks in my earlier post. Comic Sans does have a place. It is retro as all hell. Reminds me mostly of assignments for school. Very smooth looking font. Mmmmm Comic Sansssss... :topsy_turvy:
Hahahaha! The brew I was drinking almost came out my nose as I scrolled down Hex mate, thanks for that. XD
One thing I don't understand, thought about this for the last years but said nothing as I didn't know until recently much about hosting. My forum recently had to basically take a virtual private server (VPS) upgrade package or shut as was getting a lot of traffic and it was putting too much CPU load on the shared servers; and that was before a bucket load of more activity in the last couple of weeks from my Unity system (one day was 10x the load I had compared to the day my Host suspended my account and I had to go VPS). Why do I mention that? Well, I pay $30 a month on a year contract for VPS server for my site (will be $40 per month after this year); and I have no issues. That is a LOT cheaper than the package AssemberForum says they pay. I don't use any advertising on my site or videos, and just pay the bill as frankly the equivalent of about £20 a month or thereabouts is hardly an issue. So, there's the thing - if the "legal expenses" you refer to in the first post were from things like modchips and links to things similar, why not just ban those items from here so it isn't an issue, and get VPS for the site here, and not have to go with a begging bowl to ask people to pay for a site to keep it running? As I said, I pay for my site out of my own pocket. I'm sure you don't mind a comment/observation, after all, that's what a forum is generally about; and the spirit of this question in this post is I think a perfectly valid question. Also, if you own the domain name (as you do) then you can easily migrate between Hosts if you need to rather than a personal server; as mentioned, a lot cheaper too.
