I only happened to see it on the local 5am news (of all places) this morning, but Gamestop/EB is taking extremely limited pre-orders for the PS3 today. Probably too late for most of the East coast, but some on the West coast may still be able to get one. I showed up at 7am for a 10am opening and was second. Each store is only taking 13 preorders. Now I just need to see if they get two on launch day (not holding my breath).
Clarification: You bought a place in line for the PS3. This was confirmed by a document which they handed you. IE If they get in 8 units and your #8 who preordered, your golden. Anway, I left my house at about 9:26AM and I was rushing the whole way up. I kept surveying cars thinking they might be going up there too. Group of college kids..damn they are ahead of me!...Great, they turned into Lowes! So I get up there, camera ready...as I turn the corner!!! ! Not many YES! Closer: So we talk for a while, discuss how micro transactions suck, etc etc. Then we get to how they got there: The latino dude was there since 11PM (which I doubt, as my report showed last night). But he was probaly there for a while. He was a funny dude. The three kids in chairs arrived next and slept. Then came this dude from the other EB, who seen there was already 8 people at that store. Next up was a woman who was "getting paid for this" XD Then finally I arrived, lucky number 7 (although it would later turn out that I was infact 6th, because one of the three kids didnt buy anything!!) Their mother showed up next and got behind me, then this dude who was left in the cold at the other EB. By this time the doors opened and we piled in. As you can see from the last pic, a TON of stragglers made their way in. I feel sorry for em I was number 6, so barring any horrible incident Im virtually assured! Document:
Well, being #2 in line, I damn well better get one in their first shipment. The store here handed out little strips that basically say the same thing, though they were a little smarter and only let people in two at a time.
why would you buy a ps3 the day it comes out? - the only games out at launch are garbage like NBA 07 and other no-namers - the first shipment of systems will inevitably have problems just like the first shipment of ps2s back in 2000, and the first couple shipments of 360s - there are no good bluray movies out at the moment, unless you love Larry the cable guy: health inspector or Ultraviolet.
Either its excitement or people here are trying to go to the ebay route. Anyway those that got pre orders congrats.
Not a chance in hell would I ever trust a preorder from Gamespot. Those people have screwed over more people on system preorders than I can imagine. Good luck but I'd cover my bets if I were you. P.S. How much did you have to put down cash wise?
I had no idea. If I had I would have gone and gotten one for ebaying. No reason other than that though.
If I had $600 I'd be all over the ebay aspect. Chumps that buy consoles 3x their worth deserve to be ripped off.
The Gamestop over here had preorders today, but there was hardly anyone there. I kind of want a PS3, but only for 3 games, MGS4, Lair, and White Knight. Thats not near enough to justify the preorder or a buying of a $600 system, though. Especially when I have such a tough time getting a job. ;_;
Resistance looks ace, besides Its new. Dont be mad you didnt get in on it :lol: Anyone looking to do this better get that idea out of their head. Preorders are done. They are all sold out
Ebay for me. I just don't have the time to play it much before Christmas, so I will look to profit off of it.
Just checked and those auctions are starting price. However those started at around 700 are slowly going up. I dont think this guaging is going to be as succesfful as people would hope judging by what activity i see on ebay. Now wii im guessing with nintendo production speed will be easily avalible durring the holidays.
Bite me. I need a new TV. :icon_bigg At least I will wait until I have it in hand before putting up. The only reason that the auctions are being pulled (though I don't see a difference from earlier) is because you cannot sell preorder items unless it is within a month of its release. What they really need to do is get rid of the fraudulent one (e.g. empty boxes, just the receipt, Xboxes instead of PS3's).
Myself and 2 friends went scouting local GameStop's and EB's. I wound up at a GameStop with 0 people in line at 9:50. Got in line and was #1 when they opened. Of course, the transaction # on my receipt is 003, so obviously the clerk sold two to herself or her fellow employees before I got there. The others wound up getting 2 systems, both of which *should* be guaranteed on launch day given the numbers.
