First, is not like I'm actually saying (nor going to) it to his face Second, I think is even worst to call somebody and asshole/egotist than saying something against his/her looks. Why? because in a world of mostly physically identical individuals is the personality what makes us unique. But to make a large philosophical conversation short, look again at my post: excepts for my response to subbie the rest is one joke after another.
Have you been reading my thoughts? Well, it's funny you should mention that as I've been planning to write a lot more on this subject - and others relating to further unreleased Sega projects - for quite some time! Just don't expect to find the finished product on a message board, however...
Personally, I think "let's forget it" and let's talk about the games... I love DOA on the Dreamcast. Impressive stuff. Never played 3 or 4 though... getting it past my girlfriend might be hard too... :banghead: Just make sure you send me the link
I forgot to say I wasn't really picking on you, I was using you as an example, whoops. Zactly. I just bought DOA2 on Dreamcast, never had a chance to pick it up before. Man, I remember playing that the first time....the graphics were so good coming from a PlayStation. Fun game as well.
No prob dude Back on topic, DOA2 was a breakthrough, not as much as SC, or VF3 in the arcades, but big enough to make history. I did play 3, but not 4, but those dont look as edgy as 2 was back then.
History? That's taking it a bit far. DOA2 lived in the shadows of other 3D fighters of the time for the most part. Far from a dud, far from historical.
That was the first one, which was well behind in popularity to VF, VF2, Tekken and Toshiden. Most gamers didnt even knew the series existed until the second one, since the first was barely a blip in the radar of the 32bit generation. DOA2 was both popular and successful. It spawned 2 sequels and 2 spin-offs (without counting the ones yet to come). Today DOA as a franchise is more popular than VF or Tekken. Thats history right there.
DOA3 is my favorite. I hate how they changed so much in 4, and 4 against the AI anyhow, is way too fucking frusterating.
And dropped out of the arcade fight altogether b/c it couldn't hang... something Namco should've taken note on. You are high. There is a world outside of the US.
I'm surprised Tecmo's shares have only lost 10% of their value considering how much Itagaki seems to have represented the company's (better) output - are you sure there's not a zero missing from the end of that figure? P.S. Based on the law of averages, yes I have to agree that my next post *should* feature at least some mention of THAT game...
I'm sure as things move on it will continue to plummet. You know if Tecmo tries to make a DOA5 or NG3 then Itagaki will tear it to shreds before anyone sees the first screen shot. Though now him saying that DOA4 was as good as it would ever be and saying the same of NG2 prior to his resignation makes a lot more sense.
Itagaki's decision to stay on and complete projects already started will do him favours in looking for a new employer, but on the other hand cryptic comments such as those he made about not being able to surpass DOA4 and NG2 help form a conclusion his departure was planned well ahead of the actual resignation announcement... and that won't do him any good as nobody wants to invest in someone who might be scheming behind their backs!
Given how big of a Microsoft fanboy he is, I'm sure they'll give him a studio just like they did for Sakaguchi.
Because arcades are so big everywhere but japan And there is, but correct me if I'm wrong but isnt the US market still the biggest one? (biggest than any individual country, like Japan or the UK).
Uh... yes, exactly. And? Japan is the second largest world economy. Companies still scramble to hock their wares here (Apple, anyone?) It doesn't mean the non-biggest don't exist... especially considering all three franchises you mentioned are from Japanese companies. On a world wide scale, Tekken is pretty much the king of 3D fighthing right now. Tekken 6 still has cabs full at 100 yen a pop, and as far as I know, a faithful following in the west. DOA is a joke here, as nobody owns a 360, and of course, the arcade issue above. In fact, even with the dud of VF5 (and all the tits on DOA) VF is still a more marketable name.
