Bwahaha I did exactly the same. I got a black screen once, the cause in my case was that N64 cartridge port was a little dirt. Got Pilotwings 64, Wave Race 64, Beetle Adventure Racing, Doom 64, Body Harvest and Lamborghini(the latter was included with the boxed console). I tried to avoid Nintendo/Rare biggest games (most of which I've already played in the past). EDIT: Don't be silly, everything is destructible if the user treat it badly. The N64 I bought was treated very well, just the box is damaged a bit. EDIT2: Paid 30 euro (+ shipping) for a boxed Pal N64 + controller pack + Lamborghini cart on ebay. Box is a bit wear off but for the price it was worth. Digital stick in the controller is fine too.
Then add more for that ranga tax (that she says won't happen when she is in charge but a year later will)
Ok I'm in the process of taking this piece of shit apart. It has like 3 billion screws. I THINK it's the cart slot. I'll have pics so you can help me out later. and I AM NOT putting all those screws back.,
EVERY THING I HAVE DONE AND THERE ARE STILL NO SIGNS OF LIFE and I can't find the Receipt Seems like I'm out $50 here are the pictures of every thing I did after ripping this piece of shit to shreds. http://s63.beta.photobucket.com/user/kazamayoshikuni/library/Dead N64 Ok Now it's dead like Totally dead Like I may as well throw the fucking thing out
Clean that shit again, clean all your carts with q-tips + alcohol, Did the reset come out clean? ( Tested with multimeter? ) Look closely at the connector, I cant see shit on you pictures, If it looks too tarnished or even green corrosion, You will want to rub in some fine sand paper instead of the T-shirt + alcohol will not cut it. Also, you suck at keeping receipts lol.
well thankfully I got a refund on an order I was fucked over on a few days ago, Replacement system ordered. Time of death on this one 4:20 PM
Next retrocade when I take a sledge hammer to the mother board while Playing Sweedish death metal. I think it would have wanted it that way. N64 #2 is on the way now.
I shall be watching with handkerchief in hand ;_; Hope you have better luck with the next one lol...and don't forget you HAVE to play mario 64 first, it was the first game many people played on launch so it's only right you do the same, to get a authentic feeling to the whole experience
The two games I got with the junked unit were Starfox 64 and Bomberman 64 (which I cleaned after the fact) so those will probably be the first games I play. RIP NSHITTY 4 Here is your Funeral song
Jeez... hope you are not serious, because that would be retarded. Just give it to someone who can fix it, you may even get something back this way.
If the cart slot works I'll buy the case. Got a good RGB modded N64 here whose slot lacks springs and has some weird substance on it I don't want to touch.
FTW!!! Fitting funeral song! I'm actually mad myself because my Everdrive 64 decided to fry the memory chip the games get put on for playing. Found a replacement for $25 but too lazy to order not to mention I don't quite trust my soldering skills to do SMD soldering... I know I could send it to KRIKzz but he may not even mess with it since I've swapped the CIC chip out... I know the memory chip fried since it smokes and melts when I power the cart up in consoles.
I hope the new one works. If you still get the video signal issue you will probably want to try an older CRT. I know you have an hd CRT that plays all older consoles but the N64 may be different, for whatever reason.
The Shell is totally intact and cleaned.the cart slot... before all signs of life vanished I was trying to figure out if pins were out of wack or not. There are parts of the shell I'm going to need for the new unit. Give me a few days I may have an empty N64 shell if anyone wants it. Native resolution of the N64? The only other system from that generation I have is my Saturn and that works flawlessly on my TV. I'm going to do something to the mother board...... What I don't know yet.
