I was thinking about taking my Pure White XBOX and modifying it. Swapping out the disk drive and getting the tweaked OS. I was also thinking of having the top hand painted with some sort of Japanese symbol, not sure. Something done well (read: not by me).

Since there are only 1,000 of them....what's your opinion? Will it bastardize a rare console or, if done well, could be a pretty sweet one-of-a-kind?

Please don't :-( You can always get a regular XBOX and have a professional paint job on it to get your desired results.

I think the same. These are not that common. You should not "destroy" one :(

Take the above words at a sign from God. Don't do it. Just get a normal one then paint that white.

I'd say, go for it! And after modding it inside, paint it black!

i never thought these "special" edition consoles were so special anyway. I'd say go for it, although it might be cheaper to just sell this one and get a regular one, spray it white?

Yeah, but the other side of the argument is "it's an Xbox -- throw it out the window".

    Do it!

A well done custom box is always nicer than a "no-so-limited" edition.

Gaijin, we all know you're wap. You can go back to kissing Sega's/Nintendo's/Sony's ass because you're useless comments aren't serving any purpose in helping the OP make his decision. Believe it or not, there are many many people who enjoy the XBOX and its games. You're not the only one out there, and your opinion isn't definitive.

I was thinking this was a thread about smashing it with a sledge hammer and taping the video for us to watch.

But since you plan to just modify it I stick with the others and say "don't do it"

Give us a mock-up of what you plan on doing, then I'll judge.
btw, I plan on having a custom clear-red case for my 64DD made, and replacing the red LED with a white one.

well i d be careful in opening/putting back a 64DD. The ribbon inside is hard to "put back" because when u "pull" it the first time, it's too short for your finger to fit in the gap.. unscrew it and see what I mean before u attempt anything. don't pull anything too hard either.

Also, the mechanism inside is quite the bastard to put back together:\

I'm sure Japan-Games.com made this thread just to see our responses. ;)

BTW, how much to these limited edition units go for?

Well, with out regard to any other arguments either way, I'd say that your anwser is held within your question. If you consider doing such a thing as "destroying" the system then you probably should not do it. Just modify a standard console instead.

Or send it to me, free of charges

Seriously, don't destroy it (specially because it's a limited edition). If you still want to do something, get a regular xbox, add a modchip, replace the HD, install XBMC,... And have some fun with it.

What's a wap? I know of Wapanese, a white guy who thinks he's Japanese. Is this the same thing?
