That's a very valid statement. Living abroad is not for everyone. Shit. It's not for most people. Until you're very comfortable w/ the language, each day is a challenge. Before you label me a Japanophile, or label people that move here crazy, think of the following facts.

-Easy $30k a year (minimum) job out of college, regardless of degree.
-Once you're done teaching: same job, more money, more vacation
-Japanese pussy throwing itself at you

These are just a select few that apply to most westerners living in Japan. There's more, of course, depending on the person.

For me, it was a question of economics, and getting the fuck out of Texas. Austin isn't bad, but job market competitive. Dallas & Houston absoultely suck cock. If you don't have a shotgun, you run the risk of incarceration.

One of my black ex-navy friends I used to work w/ introduced me to this guy that was most likely half black half Japanese. He said, "Hey -- this is Kenji. He's a jigger." Laughed my ass off.

I have since moved back to Tokyo (haven't updated my profile). About to have a little guy in a few weeks though, so surely the experience will be different this time around.

Yeah -- Feb 8th we're having him. C-section, no surprises. 1 day before his old mans birthday. We pushed for the 9th, but the hospital only does this on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Damn conformity.

Yep, sure did. And you got that right. Waikiki is unbelievable. More Japanese than Americans. Half the front desk staffs speak both languages, and they have japanese breakfasts... pretty tasty ones too!
