http://gonintendo.com/?p=13673 Well, this was really unexpected. I thought SNK was gonna be a PS3 company. Anyways, good news for nintendo fans. Though current its only announced in japan. We hopefully should get some love here in the USA I never was famillar with this system as it wasn't that popular here But, it seems to be a system more or less for "fighters". Which I ain't all that much of a fan of. Anything we should be looking forward to?
Well, other than figters you have games like Puzzle Bobble, Metal Slug, Baseball Stars, and others im sure.
Great news but I worrie SNK will try charging $10+ for Neo Geo games. I am currious when they will start releasing Neo Geo games for the ps3 network. They mention quite a while back they were planning to do so.
Well acutally the article states that "the service start in Spring, with Eggy and Aleste being the first titles available (800 points)." Which is about $8 USD PS: I edited my original post. The article is here http://gonintendo.com/?p=13673
This is fantastic news !!! Neo Geo on the Wii. Then again I already have pretty much perfect Neo CD on the Dreamcast Still, I can't wait for this. Yakumo
Lets not forget that MSX titles will also come out, meaning that there is a good chance that the first two Metal Gear games will come out (Granted, I do own Subsistence, and I would rather try the NES version)
The interesting question will be how good their neo-geo emulation is. And whether they release any of the most popular games (such as KOF series, metal slug series etc) on it.
Neo Geo emulation should be perfect since it's basically using the same rout as the Mega Drive which is already perfect on Virtual Console. Yakumo
Absolutely not, Neo-Geo is all about the game and uber-mintness. So a legally bought rom won't devalue the "real" games with packaging. Altough in some casing with rare games; maybe the demand gets less..
I hope SNK release a special edition full size wireless Neo Geo pad Can't beat using the big Neo joysticks for the games!!
Just out of curiosity, how much in Yen did MSX titles cost back in the day? I imagine they were priced quite high (8900Y ?). This is probably why the MSX VC games are set to be 800 points... [Did the high pricing have something to do with the hueg economic boom Japan was having at the time?] Also, what of Neo Geo? Weren't the games over $150 in Japan and in the US? I demand confirmation.
I recall later AES NeoGeo releases being 300$USD. The prices were related I believe mostly to the high cost of producing cartridges with so many huge ROM chips for a limited audience. That and I'm sure they wanted a very healthy profit margin. It's good news I suppose as Wii needs more traditional games for it. I like the whole Wiimote thing, but you can't play that all the fucking time. That's one reason I hate that they don't really have any proper support for Gamepads.
So far there's been two people who've said they don't like NeoGeo games on the Wii (both from Germany, strangely). Would either of you like to say why? I mean, it's just a service. If you don't want to but the games, fine, but why the negative reaction to the possiblity?
I really doubt it, the Neo Geo is already easily and readily emulated on a PC or Xbox (or Dreamcast :nod... so it's not like Neo Geo emulation is anything new, I wouldn't expect much difference to the prices... edit: typo
How the hell are we supposed to play arcade perfect fighter ports with a Wiimote??? I know there's the retro pad thingy and the GC controller, but those will be worthless. This kind of feels like a cheep way of cashing in with little usability. Maybe a novelty at best.
