Have you actually used the VC pad? It's very good. Fantastic for SFC gaming. I can see them releasing a Neo stick or something for use via the USB ports to be honest. Yakumo
Oh I'm sure the VC pad is great. Nintendo has always been talented when it comes to controllers. I guess I'm just more of an arcade stick pureist. I know what I like when it comes to a good controller and other than the Saturn pad I've never really liked a standard controller for use with a fighter. I guess we'll just have to see what ends up happening. A NeoGeo styled arcade stick could be awesome though.
well I dont like emulated games at all It's nice for preservation and hacking around with things. But I dont like commercial download stuff like this.
I'm just glad this stuff is in its original resolution; ... at least, that's what the games seem like. Well, they sure aren't given the horrible "blur" treatment that a lot of collections have been getting nowadays. [I've been playing Gunstar Heroes through component 480p and I can still see scanlines! +3 for Nintendo, Sega, Treasure, whoever, etc.] But I do agree: there is nothing like the original hardware and software. Personally, I just don't have the money to acquire all of authentic goods though. VC alleviates it to an extent.
Where did you hear that GameCube/Wii supports low resolution non-interlaced (240p) whatever you want to call it? I seem to recall GC supports one and only one resolution, 640x480. But I'm no expert on GC.
Where are they going to store the games? The huge size of NG titles is going to fill up the internal flash memory pretty quickly.
According to calculations. There is only roughly around 215MB free on the flash to store game saves and VC downloads. The rest of flash is assumed to be eaten up by the kernal. Also as mention, SD cards can not execute games, they must be coppied back onto the console to be run.
They'll just use some form of compression. Don'T forget that Neo Geo titles are years old with probably next to no compression so they sound better ! 250 MEG sounds great doesn't it but when you look at another console conversion of a Neo game (Saturn and Dreamcast being the closed or perfect) you can see that the actual game data isn't even close to the size of the Neo Geo originals. Yakumo
The Neogeo MEG rating is Megabit, not Megabyte, but it's still big enough to be an issue I'd have thought.
Roms will be compressed but I dout they will hit into the heavy hitters for quite some time. So they will probably keep with everything pre Kof 98. Most of thoes games are quite small.
There's more news about the whole deal that was released yesterday You guys can check it out http://news.spong.com/article/11950?cb=137
So basically the shit stuff they can't package up as full price compilations. Grrrrrreat! Waku Waku though, that would make it worthwhile.
Oh man, Windjammers was awesome. It's great that the Wii will be getting Neo Geo games, but us here in Australia still don't have any PC Engine/Turbografx games, so the likelihood of us getting any Neo Geo ones seems to be pretty remote.
NeoGeo games (the latest) are still only about 40Mbytes with Zip compression. And since they won't start out with the big games, you should be alright. Though at some point I'm sure Nintendo will have to enable direct execution of VC games from the SD card. It's just silly to ask you to keep them in the internal Flash when it's so small.
house-keeping your files on the Wii can be an issue if you have to write/erase your games on the SD card all the time, just to fit. And although u can always re-download stuff, ADSL isn't that fast
Really? 40Meg file in about 1.5 minutes over here and I don't even have the fastest option. I bet the Koreans are doing it in 30 seconds  Yakumo
That's fast! Transfer rates are much slower in Europe, unfortunately 40MB take me about 6 minutes or so Do nintendo servers really offer such a high speed though? 40MB is peak speed, not necessarely a speed nintendo would be able to offer with such a huge demand.
