Barc0de, you could always lie to your friends for some multiplayer DS gaming But the DS version is good, but it isn't the RTS I and probably many more were expecting. It's actually a medival version of Advance Wars. It's turned based but very well done plus you can build empires just as in the original, so I'd recommend it. Until Red Alert DS comes that is
44% in Metroid Prime Hunters. It's happening just like in the first Prime: I force myself to play the first half hour, totally uninterested and now I'm actually thinking about the game and it's world during the day at work or lunch. Hell, I'm thinking of playing right now but I have other things I want to do before going to bed. It's not a perfect game, and there is the odd glitch here and there, but I'm enjoying it a lot.
gomba, that's a nice point - I've convinced 5-6 mates since the n64 days to get nintendo related products (including the n64, and the gamecube) so I could have some serious competition in some games. That said, my mother got me Partners in Time, and Prime Hunters yesterday (Yeah, my parents are that cool and get me games, although i m well past being a kid ) and I should be getting to that in a while. Although I m a bit concerned about Prime Hunters due to mixed impressions I've read over the forums. Someone wanted to get me RE1 for DS, but I declined - is it a game that's worth it? The gamecube version frustrated me due to poor controls, beyond the point of enjoyment.
They're also mighty cool As I'm guessing hunters is on import since its not due out here for a couple of months!
Hunters is good. Its missing some of the "Metroid magic" but its well worth the money. The fact that the DS is pushing all those polygons and the texture mapping being as detailed as it is, I dunno Its a real technical feat to say the least. First time ever I can say a FPS actually controls properly on a handheld. Who woulda thunk the DS was going to pull it off. Im afraid to go online after what people did to me on Mario Kart. Its odd I find myself also having to force myself to play but like you not being able to put it down.
Lets see... On my play list is: Mario Kart DS F.E.A.R. Sonic CD Everquest (cause its about the only way I can get game time in with the wife)
Border Down. One of my *updated* vg life goals is to 1CC that game. The 3 videogame life goals used to be: 1. 1CC Radiant Silvergun 2. 1 life Taroumaru on hard (stupidly easy vg life goal there...) 3. 1CC Soukyuugurentai But since I've accomplished those... needed to make some more. :icon_bigg
Oh border down is an evil one credit challenge! I have only ever 1cc it to the last boss on one (lucky!) occasion. I have been playing a lot of Ibara in the last week got the 1cc sorted, but now I'm trying the extend mode. That goes beyond my ability. I can 1cc the arrange mode without any real difficulty though, so that makes me feel a bit better. My new goals that I'm attempting at the moment are - 1cc Shikigami no shiro II, it seems too easy to not be able to do! I just die in silly places usually after getting extends on max lives! 1cc Raiden III, again I feel this is within my ability, just need more practice. I did it with 4 lives on arcade difficulty, but I can't quite do it with the normal 3 lives. 1cc Shienryu, last two levels wipe me out leaving me with 1 or 2 ships for the final boss which I just can't do!
Yes, Border Down is an evil evil game. If you're playing for score you pretty much have to play through it perfectly. Start at red, move up to green by level 3, beat level 3 on green (you can get 90 million points at the 2nd form of the boss, I've never done it, but its doable), and... I don't know what the best routes are after that. So far I typically wind up going: Level 1: Red Level 2: Yellow Level 3: Green/Yellow/Red (The easier way to get a high Hit count is with the core of the ship on Red, hence why I always go that route) Level 4: Yellow/Red (boss typically kills me) Level 5: Yellow/Red/The end (boss always kills me). Oddly enough, the 5th boss on Remix Mode is a lot easier. And I agree on Shienryu and Shikigami no Shiro II. The last few bosses of Shienryu are evil.
I just finished Atelier Iris on the PS2, and am now playing Okami (same system) and a bit of Densetsu no Starfi 4 on the DS.
