Actually, Ryu Ga Gotoku Kenzan! and Senjou No Valkyria; before, for me, Ryu Ga Gotoku. Panzer Dragoon Orta was also great.
VF5 redefined how shitty of a company they really are. The VF community in Japan is nothing compared to the VF4 days. I'm w/ the Milkshake. Valkyria is the best game this gen. Played a bit just a while ago.
Sega does still indeed make some good games Sonic Rush Series But, thats all I can think of that was really good in the next gen. They've sure disappointed me a lot this gen. Nights 2 was meh I heard Sonic RPG got mixed reviews The new Samba de amigo for Wii had broken controls. Golden Axe 360 was downright awful from its reviews And there's plenty more I could mention
it doesnt hold a candle to DiRT or even SR2 (arcade) I played the demo for about 2 hours trying to convince myself that it's indeed SEGA RALLY. It felt more like car-skating on mud
For me yakuza 2. Mind you it didn't have the same impact as yakuza1 did but it was good and had that old sega feel.
This might be the only game I've completely and totally missed the boat on. The whole thing went way under my head.
Seconded. I had to repeatedly convince myself I was playing a car racing game there. It felt more like controlling something along the lines of an hovercraft.
How can you say a game is awful if you only played the demo.. Anyway, Football Manager 2008, Sonic Chronicles, Condemned 2, Virtua Tennis 3, Sega Megadrive collection PSP, Beijing 2008 (terribly underrated don't knock it untill you've played it with all events), VF5, Medieval II: Total War, Phantasy Star Portable, Crush (PSP), Ghost Squad, Bleach (DS) all of which are quality games. (and don't give me that crap that 'SEGA didn't develop this or that') People just like to bash SEGA and its games. Even The Club (by Bizarre, published by SEGA) had its moments and so did Viking: Battle for Asgard and Sega Superstars Tennis. People are just moaners these days.
You aren't missing anything, in my opinion. The fighting just isn't much fun, and there was something about the presentation that didn't sit right with me either. It also has some of the most tiresome, unnecessary stealth sections of any game I've ever played. There's nothing quite as frustrating as poorly-implemented stealth gameplay. I thought The Club had potential, but I haven't got around to buying it yet. I think it's pretty cheap now.
My main problem w/ the series (and yes, the upcoming installment seems to suffer even worse) is all the cliche' Japanese gangster horseshit. I'll pass. Crap portable version of a turd PC/console release. Going in the same direction w/ Phantasy Star Zero. Apparently the update fixed all the horse shit. Too little too late though. Turd with peanuts. They've redeemed themselves for the most part w/ R1, so I'm not a total hater. I'm afraid it's too little too late. Tekken stole their thunder. And I'm nota basher. I love to love Sega games... the've just put out very few in the alst 5 years.
sega continue to make quality arcade games imo.. after burner climax and sega rally 3 were both great fun. its their console games that are crap these days. i must be the only one who thinks panzer dragon orta sucks huh? awful game that focused on nothing else but beeing pretty, nowhere near the other games in the series.
1) demos are made to showcase the best elements of a game in order to convince potential buyers. 2) As a rule of thumb a game, and especially so a racing game - plus any franchise consideration-, must be fun to PLAY and meet certain standards within the first minutes in the game in order to qualify as a good game. add point 1) and 2) and you get the collective picture ;D
Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 2 (SAT) Epic! The best Sega-Games are fron Mega Drive / Saturn Times. Some good Games on Dreamcast too. Since Sonic is dashing on N*nt*nd*-Systems all Sega Games sucks.
