Last night, I attempted to load some savegame exploits (for Splinter Cell), onto a virtual FatX drive using Drivedroid, and a simple USB > Xbox adapter. My experience in modding consoles, is limited to the Wii, and that was several years ago. About my console: NTSC (US) Xbox. Kernel: 4034 Dashboard: 5960 The virtual image is recognized by the Xbox as an empty 64MB memory unit, but none of the games appear in the memory menu: Here is how I set up the saves in XPlorer 360. (Device can't be used with AR software) My source for these saves varied, but I finally settled on Softmod Installer Deluxe v5.11 Final. I tried several different approaches to getting this setup to work: Formatting the "drive" with FatXFormatter, and then having the Xbox format it. Creating a new RAW image which the Xbox formatted. Tried different USB systems (Drivedroid). The only one which works, is Mass Storage. Tried changing the folder structure: 0/UDATA/$saves, as opposed to 0/$saves None of these work. As in the first picture, the Xbox seems to "see" that the MU has data on it, but cannot for whatever reason, display the saves, which leaves me unable to load exploits. Is there any viable modern way of doing this, or am I stuck looking for old USB drives?
Never tried it before, but would be interested in helping as finding old low memory USB sticks will be more difficult in the future. The photos didn't upload, can you try to post them again.
Have you tried copying a save to the MU? (drivedroid) & seeing what it looks like under Xplorer360. Also try reducing the MU size to 8 or 16MBs
That all checked out, so I tried as you suggested, and made a new image 16MB in size. Worked perfectly. For anyone who finds this useful. You need a rooted Android phone, in my case, I used my Nexus 5. Install Drivedroid from the Play store (unpaid/paid is the same). Skip the Setup Wizard, you won't need it. Press the "+" icon, and select "Create Blank Image..." For a filename, it can be anything. Leave it set as an .img, and set the size to 16MB. Leave "MBR Partition table" checked, and select FAT from the dropdown below. Start up your Xbox. On Drivedroid, the new image should be listed. Tap it, and you should now see the "Host Image" menu. Tap the "Writeable USB" icon. Once that's all done, tap the Settings icon on the bottom menu (2nd from the right), and in the Settings menu, tap the "USB Settings" option. You can either use automatic, or manual USB mode. Just make sure that either "Automatic USB Mode", or "Manual USB Mode", are set to "Mass Storage" (2nd from top). By default, it usually selects MTP. Plug in your phone to your USB/Xbox adapter, and on the MS Dash, navigate to "Memory". It should now say that the drive was not working correctly, and has been erased. This is what we want. Press, A, and you should now see the new MU on the memory screen. At this point, unplug your phone from the Xbox, and back into your computer. From here, it is the same as any other softmod procedure. I used Xplorer 360, which does work in Windows 10 x64. Thank you guys for the tips, and hopefully someone else finds this useful.
Nice one I need to find a cheap crappy android phone that can be rooted now. Is there a reason it's needs root access? Edit: Required for the kernel functionality.
Wouldn't know, really. Says it has something to do with low-level processes required to simulate storage devices. Some phones can do it, some can't.
Dang before I could even hop in you guys found a fix. Anyone who try's this let us know how it works for you, and what phone you used! I'm curious if it will work for most major droid based phones. Heck I'm curious about the tablet market too... lol
Hmm, probably will brick it, but this would work on a rooted Windows Phone too. Think any usb drive that allows formatting and the xbox is able to talk to it can format the drive. Ill keep this in mind, thx.
I bought an Xbox 3 years ago along with the Splinter Cell game but didn't have the adapter or the memory card to mod it. This thread actually reminded me I had one. I ended up modifying one of the ports on the controller yesterday and wired up a female USB connector. 4 Wires to solder, luckily one of the 2GB USBs I had lying around was recognized. In the end I have had more problems with transferring the exploit to the USB on the PC as the files wouldn't show up in Xplorer. Next step I guess is to replace the stock HDD
