OK, here's the "bomb" I promised: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/korea/appendix-consoles2.htm A compendium of known Famiclones published in Korea (Published meaning at least repackaged as opposed to plainly imported). This includes the awesomest-looking Famiclone ever. On the following page are newer clones, and on the previous page legit consoles. The rest of the article is also interesting, I hope. Please note that it is not yet posted on the main site over there and still subject to minor editing, but I wanted to keep the "no more than a month" promise. (I hope I did, but the board only says "4 weeks ago"...)
I've seen the "Supercom" from your link somewhere in Mexico, or at least an identical case. A family friend's bratty kid had a famiclone that looked just like it. I considered it pretty cool, very Genesis-like. But nothing in the world can beat that car-shaped one.
Actually I just picked up a free Terminator 2 famiclone and to my surprise there's only a tiny little circuit board inside with a single glob top on it. I was surprised because I didn't think NOAC's popped up until the early 2000's and I'm trying to date the thing. I'm guessing late 90's but was hoping someone knew more specifics about it.
Hmm, that's very interesting. Can you take any pictures? Maybe it's a newer clone of a clone? It sometimes happens.
Yeah okay I'm going to put up a video showing the Terminator 2 on You Tube tomorrow so I'll post that link here. I opened it up to show the insides in the video so you'll see it there.
A friend of mine bought a Terminator 2 around 2002/2003 and I remember it had the NOAC, maybe in the beginning they came with the full board and they changed it later to reduce costs...
Well here it is. Sorry the video's really long but I open it up at the end in the last few minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxeJAmS4M4Y&feature=email&email=comment_received
Great video. Man, that really looks like some cheap crap. Even by watching the video you can see just how cheap the plastic used to make the system really is.
Seems to be the cheap of the cheap. Right up there with the Blaze MD units. How much was a Terminator 2 back when they were still sold?
At least here in Uruguay all clones like this costes between 10 and 15 dollars back then (their price hasn't changed much in the last years anyway), but I think famiclones price is similar in the rest of the world.
i use to own an ending man s-700, still own the box (its company is "SHIN TEN DO CO. LTD") mine shows a TENGEN NES TETRIS cart in it, yet it plays Famicom games
Yeah I haven't updated ultimateconsoledatabase since 2009, just haven't had the time for it. I also haven't checked that email address in quite some time, sorry about that. Edit: Just noticed this thread is from 2010. Man, time files.
I have loads to add to this thread since it got Necro'd anyway. will be back with pictures next week!
