I did, there's more than one article out there. This is just one article.

Did you read what I wrote? "Various articles on the net".

That guy talks like such a tool, just say you are stoked to get a ridiculous amount of money for something that is moderately cool.

I think you're all forgetting about the 85 VGA rated LoZ that was included in the auction. That more than makes up for it.

Looks like the seller's half year of listing the item and the enormous amount of attention it got paid off for him. I can't fathom why anyone would pay so much money for a build identical to the retail release.

Shit like this makes me glad I'm not into collecting the super-ultra-rare stuff.

Sure I have the SOMEWHAT rare Sega Demo System DS-16 but that isn't as rare as prototype games.

And it is harder to get ripped off with fake copies of the somewhat rare hardware vs. game prototypes...

could be some dude who bought the auction just to troll the internet and has no intention of paying up.

I think this is what happens when casual speculators enter into the game collecting market and prices skyrocket on everything. This happened to comic books in the 90s. Admittedly this is a great item but not for that kind of money.

The seller's quotes though are hilarious

"I care about the collecting community and giving it a good home was important,"

So as long as someone has $55,000 that means its a good home? And doesn't the ebay terms of agreement state you have to sell it to whoever buys it regardless of what home its going too?

"I definitely cannot thank Jason Wilson, Mark Nolan, and Matt Nolan enough,"

Did the seller just win an oscar? Why is he thanking everyone?

What a load of texas horseshit.

I guess that would make my Xbox 360 Devkit worth 1 MILLION DOLLARS. :applause:

And my Sega DS-16 worth at least $500,000.

Or my model 1 CD worth $200,000.

Or even my busted Game Gear worth $5,000...

"Welcome to the internet fag. Now fuck off!" < Seems fitting...

A proto cart of a game that had already been completed for the FDS system. So this is a proto of a port, and it is identical to the retail release.

    Ho hum.

Wildly exaggerating of course, but this is hardly a holy grail of collecting. Now, when somebody digs up an early build of the "real" game I'll be all over it.

Huh, I don't think it was ever in original dev's hands. NOA localization or testing team at most.
Kinda feeling sorry for anyone who wants/wanted to own this.

There already was that FDS proto, that had some moderate differences from the final game. Not sure how much it sold for, but I'd imagine it was much less than $55K

LOL. This cart is rare but I've seen them before, not in person of course. I saw one sell on ebay once in the past for maybe $500 or so dollars, but man $55K is a lot.
