I beleive this is real and is really rare and please back this up, this could be one of the only xbox's to still have this game. Maybe we could get more information about this game off the previous owner of the devkit.

How and why would it be a prototype of a game made 6-7 years earlier? Using far more advanced graphics, technology, models and gameplay?

Indeed, I'm not quite understanding that suggestion. Sonic R was obviously released in 1997.

Plus this looks nothing like Sonic R in any way at all. To me it looks more like a Sonic Riders beta or game based upon that style. Nothing at all to do with Sonic R from what I can see.

Yeah, i think it was released on pc(when i bought it) in 2001 and i read up on it after the post that it was released in 1997 originally. Yeah its defiantly not sonic-r i just thought the graphics wernt as good as riders. Are there any credits in the game? If there were then we could see if it was sonic riders proto. Sonic riders was released in 2006 i think, 2003 is what people are saying it might be from. Most game might only take a year or two to develop but some take longer(especially to develop a new engine) so its a definite a big possibility that it is riders.

Aha no way its related to Sonic R! This game even as a prototype this uses far better tech than anything the retail version of Sonic R could have done. Plus theres at least a 6-7 year gap ;)

It seems to be a pitch as discussed before which could be similar to how Sonic Crackers on the Mega Drive was done to get the green light for Knuckles Chaotix's.

i agree it couldn't be homebrew , though it could a hack using the sonic heros engine .
anyway i think it would be worth copying off the xbox's hardrive i believe you can use a action replay , treat it like xbox media and your loading roms to an emulator.

Maybe since a few ex-sega employee's have joined recently, they might have contacts that might be able to figure out where it came from?

Another thing I'm curious about. Since Xbox consoles have hard drives inside, I wonder if you could run recovery software on the hard drive to retrieve files that used to be on there? That would be interesting.
