Yeah, the XDK software for the PC allows you to connect to the Xbox and browse through all the partitions it's HD.
no. Different File System (FATX) so, as mentioned before, a PC would simply see the HDD as Defective/Corrupted Filesystem. If you'd run a recovery tool over it it would come up with nothing/an error. EDIT: Wait. is he Talking about using a XDK Recovery or a Recovery tool from the PC to retrieve Deleted/lost files?
Sweet. Well, treasure what you have, you are a lucky man. Also, once this whole fiasco over the remnants on that drive are over, you should totally try development out for the X-Box. You can find details elsewhere on the forum and I'm more than sure that some people here would be willing to give you the software to do it
Last I checked virtually every tool available for Windows that could read a FATX file system were either in poorly translated form or demanded the use of an image of the HDD rather than accessing the drive directly. I recall there being a driver of sorts to handle reading FATX under Windows but I don't know if it is good enough to handle the sort of low level access you need for the proper tools to work transparently. The real problem is that no file recovery tool to my knowledge can handle FATX. Though there is talk about computer forensic communities about incorporating unusual file system support into their applications given hiding a bunch of incriminating evidence on an XBox isn't out of the question. Particularly if you were to use a hex editor to hide it within the slack space of a sector. Realistically I'd have to say nothing of value could be recovered depending on how full F is. X/Y/Z might prove something of interest but since he has clearly run games on the thing already they probably won't have anything at this point. I'm assuming these dev kits are setup the same way a retail XBox is though, never had one in my person to poke at. Addendum: http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/~xbox/xbox-scene/tools/harddrive/HDD_Driver.zip "When this is complete, it will be called Xbox HDD "Driver" for Win2k/XP 1.0. It is currently called Xbox HDD sector-editing supplement tool version 0.5. Understand?" Sounds promising for such purposes. Win2k and XP only though.
Just give the man time, if he wants to, great, if not, still great, if he hadn't have come forward we wouldn't have known this even existed.
i take it back from the looks of it it may be a hack of tony with the sound track of sonic adventure 2, why else would a hover board sound like a skate board
Unlikely: it's far more plausible that it's a 'themed' version of the Tech-Deck game that the company was also developing. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a genuine tech demo, which explains the ripped graphics and sounds from other Sonic games appearing here (no sense in wasting time and resources for an internal demo when you already have it).
A Small update. I messed with the game code a bit and after renaming a few files I found another level that was desigined and labeled as a test course. I will post a video of it this weekend sometime. Also I obtained 2 more visionscape dev xbox's and am looking at if any of the tech deck dev levels can easily be switched with the current sonic ones. I am of course keeped an untampered copy of Sonic Extreme backed up.
