Where did you hear any of that, Darkspire? I'm pretty sure Chris said nothing like that in the interview, you must be confusing what he actually said for something else. He's actually said on multiple occasions that he DOESN'T have any of the actual engine, only the textures and sprites that he made himself. I think what he said was something moreso along the lines of he doesn't have the actual engine, but even if he did wouldn't want to release it without Ofer's own written permission, at least I think it was something like that.

There are no other builds to play yet. Jollyroger has been working on doing what he can though.

I still don't get why Sega scrapped this game, hardware limitations would have been understandable, but it's such a unique concept for a 3D Sonic game it beats what we got with Sonic 3D and Sonic Jam by miles.

Because SEGA is out of touch with reality, and has been ever since the beginning of the saturn era. They are run by utter idiots, and it's a wonder how they're still around. :/

It's a shame too, because sonic still has so much potential, but SEGA keeps messing it all up.

The biggest problem with Sonic transitioning into the third dimension was even acknowledged by his creators in a 1998 interview on the subject of Adventure's development - even if you slow him and his friends down, each stage must be huge with various routes for gamers to enjoy the experience. This required far more memory than the Saturn had at its disposal, while 3D: Flickies' Island and the World portion of Jam prove the only alternative is to fill a smaller area with obstacles or puzzles, which didn't work as a long-term gameplay mechanic. Yes, that World preview was technically impressive, but 3D just bored me to death and I've still only played it through completely once, these days preferring to exploit the hidden level select feature (although a save option would have been just as welcome). Incredibly, despite all the potential roadblocks, it seems as if Xtreme somehow perfected the balance, using the switching of gravity as a puzzle in places rather than more obvious concepts. Then again, it's an idea that has since been used elsewhere, even if it was quite unique back then... If only more people were able to judge this game based on its place in history rather than as a failed project that had to be restored by a dedicated few, as 1996 was quite a revolutionary year for Sega. Unfortunately, most of its greatest innovations from this time are now mostly forgotten, though finishing Xtreme and giving us a Model 3 compilation would greatly help rectify this situation!

So is this game analog compatible? I think everyone would want to know that.

It runs kind of slow on my machine though, is that normal? I guess why it runs so quickly in Andrew's videos is because his PC has dat superior blast processing, lol. Eh, guess that adds to the authenticity of it eh? haha. To have it literally play as it looks in the E3 video.

The slow performance is due to the way I am using OpenGL at the moment, which can cause some issues with some GPU drivers, I will fix performance issues over time.

The game engine is designed to run at a fixed rate of 25 FPS anyway; on a decent PC I have to limit the frame rate aggressively, on my MacBook Pro if I don't limit the frame rate, it runs at ~300 FPS.
