I'm still on 3.55 Waninkoko v2 and quite happy with it, despite not being able to go online.

This is going way too damn far. How dare they intrude on someone like this, especially when he's doing nothing but restoring a feature that was an original selling point of the machine that he purchased?

I was already soured on $ony after all the years of hype over substance. Reading this made me regret all of the purchases I have made over for years for quality a/v equipment from them. Hopefully enough of the consumer market spends their money elsewhere after this. I'm not egotistical enough to think that my dollars alone make much of a dent in their budget, but word of mouth can bite companies in the ass in the longrun.

I'm on the original OCF that doesn't support iso loaders. So i have no more psn access thanks to sony.

I keep playing my BR games i own and enjoy emus and homebrews. I lost nothing but sony is losing the 20$ or such i usually spent on psn and will not get not a single $ from me from multiplatform games (i'll buy them on x360)...

who's losing in the situation? Sony should have issued some "homebrew" keys and made people upgrade. More people would have come to ps3, piracy would have not flourished as it'll soon, people would have kept buying psn games, all would be happy...

The truth is they just needed the OtherOS feature to save on import tax. They rather have the users spend money and time on games than on homebrew.

Graf needs to chill on the smilies.

Exactly right, it's not hard to figure this out. At this stage, why would Sony permit you to run non-commercial games or other unlicenced code? What would be the purpose of that? Of course they're not going to "just enable homebrew" or hand out keys to people who're making homebrew, be realistic guys.

No, you have no more PSN access thanks to yourself. You are smart enough to understand why your console is blocked - the injured pariah routine is unconvincing, I'm afraid.

That's thanks to yourself dude. You made the choice.

The "Computer system" loophole was closed before the PS3 was released. That was not the reason OtherOS was included.

It's a shame Sony has no long term thinking. It's been proven time and time again that pirates don't have much technical skill in hacking. It's always the white hats who want to enable Open Source software who do all the hacking. By removing OtherOS, your just inviting loads of smart and talented people to go pick apart your code.
